5 SOURCES ON SUNDIN

Source #1

"Mats refused to come out and meet the media tonight..Usually he is very prompt and always shows up to be interviewed. Tonight's lacklustre performance may be what pushes him over the edge. Reporters waited more than 30 minutes. Finally, Leaf PR Director Pat Park emerged to tell about 15 reporters that Sundin had "the flu" and had left. He did not make himself available for mid-day skate either."

Source #2

"I am hearing that the Leafs Board is upset that they waited until today to officially approach him. They did not put a deadline on him and rather said, 'take a few days.' However by waiting this long they have really put Mats into a situation where he really doesn;t know how to react or what to do."

Source #3

"Mats wants to help out and feels a huge amount of respect for the organization. He LOVES the city of Toronto and absolutely feels indebted to the fans and the city. He honestly feels amazed that he could spend an entire career in a hockey crazy city like Toronto and never have a single fan or media person say or treat him in any way other than kind and fair."

Source #4

"Honestly not sure what will happen, but as of now it is all in flux. As we talk right now, Mats is not in play as far as this trade deadline goes. That is how the GMS who are waiting should strart to respond to the current events tonight. Will he come into play? We don't know and won't know until Saturday. The seven or so teams that are waiting on Mats need to realize to not out their eggs into this basket, and hope they can still make the needed moves to improve their team while holding back the right pieces should Mats suddenly come into play."

Source #5

"I was told that Mats knows what the deal is and that it is a team that he really needs to think about before accepting."

++++++++

from earlier today....

Rumours Flying Around Wachovia...Flyers may have made a deal...stay tuned..

Live from the Wachovia Center...lots of buzz. I was told that Mats has definitely already had his meeting today with Fletcher...stay tuned there. Anaheim is the team to look at right now.... although I have been told that Mats could prefer to stay in the eastern part of Canada.

more as the night develops...

I am hearing that today is the day the Fletcher is going to have the serious talk with Sundin as to waiving his No Trade Clause. That tells me that Cliff has a deal he likes, or he wouldn't have approached him....in my opinion.

On the Fedorov front, It is looking very good that he will be dealt and Ottawa is the front runner, but don't rule out Montreal.

Also hearing that there is growing interest for Ryan Suter in Nashville. Boston and Carolina are teams that I have heard tied to Suter today...I would expect that Buffalo and San Jose would also get involved..
