Late night report here...
The Ovechkin deal that many felt was going to be signed in mid-January is looking very much in doubt according to several sources tonight.
An email from a top Russian source says it all. When getting rumours involving Russians go to the Russians:
"Alex is repping himself and many of the others (young russian stars) and there agents are demanding he push this envelope. The belief is clear that Alex is of course talented but above that he is marketable and in the right hockey city he could double his salary of close to 10 per in endorsements. So there is also pressure mounting to try out the marketplace."
Also a source has told me that the Sens are closing in on signing Cujo, but don't count the Leafs out either...of course both would sign another goalie only after....
