Well, here we are again in the midst of the trade freeze. However, there is plenty going on...

But before that...

Our esteemed writer BD Gallof has posted an absolutely fascinating interview with Dick Pound. Some very shocking and intriguing information from Pound where he:

...insinuates that stimulants are "the drug of choice for the NHL."
...explains and expands on his oft-quoted 30%
...responds quite deliciously to Ted Saskin's comment, and takes a swipe at Bill Daly
...explains that the Mitchell report basically says a lot of the same things that WADA does, that drug testing should occur by an outside party

It can be found here....The Pound Code: by BD Gallof

I have some serious issues with some of what Pound is saying. Especially some of the personal attacks. I also believe that this brings up some great debate when it comes to stimulants. "Starbucks Anyone?"

Now, on to the rumours...

The following teams are on my famous, "Don't look now, but we could be trading" list:

Edmonton...Jarret Stoll...Many, many teams are calling about this kid. Staios is another name that will come up a ton here in the next two months if what I am hearing now is any indication.

Boston: It is possible that Aaron Ward could be heading to Nashville (e1).

Calgary: Huselius is a name to look at...The Flames would like quite a bit back for the pending UFA. Possible suitors: NJ (e2) and Atlanta (e1)

Chicago: Brent Sopel. It all depends on how close the Hawks are to the playoffs, but from all indications Sopel has a great deal of value. Look toward Montreal and NYR.

Columbus: This is the team to watch to bring in a really big name 'rent a player.' Mark these words...too early to say who, but remember this.

Florida: Steve Montador is a player that many would love to snag...

LA: Every year we speak of it, but Rob Blake is going to be highly discussed. Teams that could make a play for him...Buffalo (e2) or Philly (e1)

Montreal: Ryder will be elsewhere. There is almost no doubt about it, and the Marleau trade talks will continue to the end...The Habs are going to make major changes from all indications...The deadline is their only way to do so.

Nashville: A Ton of cap space, and some true blue talent. First they need to sign Weber...

Islanders: They are going to be VERY interesting in a similar way to the Preds. Depends where they are standing...

NY Rangers: They will go and get their d-man, but they will also be looking for a Raffi Torres type of player...

Phoenix, Morris and Reinprecht....Maybe a Jovo....They will get richer with youth soon...

Toronto: I don't believe Raycroft goes anywhere yet. I really don't. However, depending on where they sit, Sundin will be this year's Forsberg...

Vancouver: They are positively going to tweak...I expect that all the preliminary talks with NJ will amount to something in late January.

More to come...Talkcast at 3pm
