Highlight of the night by far- Neil vs. Godard.
What a solid tilt that was and despite neither player wrestling to the ground, you have to give the W to Godard. He threw some big punches.
The game started off on a bad note for Ottawa as
Jordan Staal scored nice and early. No question the Sens were spooked by that goal, but managed to get going and answer back roughly 10 minutes later with Carkner’s 2nd of the year.
From that goal on, the Penguins just couldn't get it going. Despite a few nice chances, Leclaire and the Sens keep Crosby and Malkin off the board till late in the game.
Michalek picked up his 100th career goal, Fisher decided to pass instead of score and Phillips decided he was an offensive d-man tonight.
Now Pen fans can say all they want about injuries costing them the game, but when Gonchar, Malkin, Crosby and Staal are in the line-up, this Pens team is still among the best.
24 hours after I mentioned Ottawa needed to score more and get away from the one-goal games. Well tonight the really answered the bell and Leclaire played a much better game.
And on another note, because I know it will come up, the Cooke hit on Donovan wasn't dirty or cheap, for once it was simply the cost of doing business.
Hopefully it won't hamper Donovan as the Sens move forward.
Next up - My favourite Hockeybuzz fan base - the Buffalo Sabres.
