Quick hits will continue throughout the day, with the rumor chart set to launch shortly..
You can hardly throw a stick these days and not hit a GM on tour as they scout from anther press box.. In general the rumors follow a few days after..as is the case this morning..
*The Lightning and Maple Leafs are both very interested in Kings backup goalie Jonathan Bernier. My sources are almost all in agreement here and the common thread appears to be the Kings want a goalie in return along with a solid forward.
*Last week Pierre Gauthier was found in NJ scouting, and the word, at the time, was he was scouting the Devils opponent, however today I continue to hear Gauthier has been told to try and acquire a top line player and that no player on the roster is safe. Two sources contacted me, one last night and another an our ago, saying they are hearing the Canadiens have serious interest in Zach Parise..
*Gleason sweeps... Hearing the recent Winter Classic foes may be in competition again. This time for Hurricanes D-man Tim Gleason. Another possibility for the Rangers may be Zidlicky out of Minnesota.
Non Rumor thoughts...
* It looks more and more like Scott Hartnell will be added to the NHL All-Star game. Talking to league sources and following his remarkable 5 goal weekend, it is hard to argue there is a better power forward in hockey right now. Although Jordan Eberle will replace Mikko Koivu, Hartsy still has a shot in place of Toews (assuming the Hawks captain is out) or else Jamie Benn if the Stars center is not fully recovered from appendix surgery. Also, Kris Letang is in, replacing Dustin Byfuglien.
*Bobby Ryan. How it are Bobby Ryan and the Ducks right now? two weeks ago I took some heat for saying I believed the Ducks were still going to be a factor in the playoff hunt because they were the one team who I could see making a serious run. Over the last few weeks Bobby Ryan has literally lifted his team on his shoulders and is playing with a confidence level that is simply astounding.
Coming up...
