Your 2010 UFA/RFA Rumor Chart Update
Talking to sources all day....rumors are really buzzing as the draft is 10 days away...
On the Leafs...
* They will make a splash at the draft and on July 1. I have very little doubt about that.
* Kaberle will be moved at the draft for a player who can help right now. The Leafs are all about "now" at this point. There are no talks with the Devils. There are talks with Pittsburgh, LA, NYI, and Buffalo.
* Dont buy into the Leafs not being in on Kovalchuk or Marleau. Especially Marleau, but Kovalchuk is a target as well. The Leafs will be in on a big name UFA..and a few tier 2 guys.
On The Hawks...
* Versteeg and Sharp are in danger of being moved. The Hawks are talking to Montreal and Florida.
* Huet will be buried in the minors.
On Spezza...
* I am 99% certain at this point Spezza will be dealt. This is as definite as Heatley was this past summer. the Bruins and Oilers are the main targets.
On Buffalo...
* The Sabres will make a move for a pair of d-men. One as a UFA, one through a trade.
* The Sabres like Kubina, but Kubina wants 4 years at 4M per.
On The Kings and Kovalchuk...
* I get the impression the pressure on the Kings is coming from ownership to try to make Kovalchuk happen in LA. I keep hearing Kovalchuk and his wife are very interested in the Los Angeles scene.
On the Flyers and Goalies...
* Jose Theodore and Dan Ellis is what I keep hearing. Leighton will be signed as well and will compete with Boucher for a back up spot.
On the Predators...
* Hearing Nathan Horton is very much on their radar.
