By the time the team website confirms something, many (if not most) have had their fingers on the pulse for a while. Patrick Kane appears to be moving on.
We’ve all talked about this, and that’s why the, “It’s not news” headline was chosen. There is no replacing Patrick Kane with another player. The presence and contribution of the 3 time cup winner was an absolute gift and will add emphasis to stronger defensive schemes along with more scoring by committee.
For what it’s worth, it was an absolute privilege to watch #88 on the ice wearing the Winged Wheel. The concerns of what to do in the offseason (in my opinion) is to find another top 6 center, get rid of at least one or two horrible contracts if possible, and establish the goaltending lineup in a more straight forward fashion. Husso shouldn’t be the “default” starter.
If you have a favorite memory of the past season regarding Kane, take a minute a drop a note. This was a rare and fantastic add for any team and Detroit was blessed to be the destination.
