As always, thanks for the updates!

Will be interesting to see how this all shakes out by next season. Sure hope they don’t make it more expensive or difficult to watch, or they will alienate even more viewers!

100%. ABC is suicidal thinking of going to stream only. If I’m Bryan Roberts at NBC, I’m working on a broadcast deal to supplement. Heck, even CBS should see if they can get a deal

Form my seat, I think it's inevitable that viewership's going to drop off because of the move to streaming and the additional cost to have that service. If Amazon's the big hitter, you have to pay for Prime, I believe, at $180/year. ESPN+ is going to be upwards of $50/MONTH, and you still have to deal with black-outs....It's insane to pay the extra for a service only to have the service taken away from you. Bottom line is that the streaming service will take advantage of the exclusivity. I foresee this being a financial hit to the league.....and will then cause the cap to increase at a lower rate than discussed.....

This whole thing stinks, frankly. Fans are taken advantage of and no one can do anything about it....unless an Anti-trust suit is brought. Going to be interesting along with the moves we're make this off-season............

I think you’re right. The ESPN+ service will become one single ESPN hub. Every station, all the content etc. but, they tried to make another “hub” like the old NHL app with Paramount and others. Congress called “anti trust” on that one. No one wants to pay $50 to as high as $70 per month just for ESPN. Right now the 3 bundle is free again through Verizon (D+, ESPN+, HULU) to inflate subscriber numbers. I was disgusted with cable (that did come to about $180) and now they refused to let you cancel optional portions at Direct. No one needs this. I don’t hear anyone excited about paying more for anything. NBA playoff ratings down again, waiting on the end of round 1 then have to wait 4 weeks for full analytics. Not good

Whelp... I'm happy if Amazon takes over Bally Sports / Red Wings. I already have Prime anyhow. I have Comcast... which has the Prime app built into the service. My question now is do I cut Comcast altogether which is what I've been contemplating.

For any of you GR Griffins fans you can subscribe to AHL Live and watch them for the rest of the playoffs for $29.99. I'm signing up today I think so I can watch any games I want when I'm not seeing the games live... handy for road games.

That would be a nice bonus. My “guess” is that it will be like the bundles will try to break off (like the Netflix password share) then realize they can’t support themselves and bounce back and forth. If you can live without comcast and just want to sub to Bally straight up for baseball, they’ll probably give you a way better deal if you want to go back. When I was there, they would put the pic of the employee that “saved” the most accounts (not mentioning all the free crap they gave up)

I hope Amazon does well so that we can all stop being subjected to broadcastbuzz and these stupid blogs.

(frank) off with this poop already. Take a look at your traffic, you’re killing this blog.

I think your math is well off pace. It’s not enjoyable to track all of this. I try to warn when that content is being presented. Comcast kicking a 17 market RSN off unfortunately affects more than just watching the sport. I get monthly reports as well as thanks from other readers for tracking this. I’m sorry that it isn’t what you want to see. I didn’t want to cover it. Today’s development came out of the blue. I will forward your concerns and I’m certain they will be considered. If I’m killing the blog, I’ll be informed and the issue will be remedied.

I’m watching the Griffs, not a great night so far. After the first round is done for the NHL we can start projecting what a tight market might make possible for sure.

Brind’amour:
"Waddell said in an interview with The Athletic’s Michael Russo (subscription link) that he’s not worried about the state of negotiations. Instead, he stated that a new deal will get done and that his bench boss wants to be a Hurricane for life. Brind’Amour would undoubtedly be highly sought after if the two sides aren’t able to agree on an extension to his contract that expires at the end of June."

To me, there's not a lot of benefit of ASP spending another season in the SHL as he's already proven he can play at that level. Logic would say that because he proved he could play at that level, it's time to test him at the next and start getting him used to the smaller rink, which can be a big adjustment especially for defenseman.

I suspect the reason why he's staying another year, is he was unable to put muscle on his frame. That's not unusual, some young men his age can eat massive amounts of calories and protein, lift massive amounts of weight, but no matter what they do, they can't build mass. That happened to me and then about 20, my frame changed without changing anything. I just naturally filled out and went from a size 14 neck size to a 17 almost overnight. The same thing happened with my son. The NA game is more physical on defenseman and if I had to guess, that's why he's staying over there for another season.

Danielson has another strong night, 1 G 3 A, which brings him to 1G 9A over the last 3 games... given the strength of that team its good to see him standout in the third round.

Meh, he is a flash in the pan and probably a bust.

We can go back to the normal Yzerman bashing and Wings-loathing now.

I'm not sure I agree. i don't see him being a top line C but second line to me seems possible, curious to see him play in a more physical environment - maybe i'll change my mind seeing that haha
