Morning bill, if MM comes over this summer. Do you see the flyers bringing in any other Russians from the khl? or any at all to help him along? if so any names?

also do the flyers have any interest in any former nhl players who played in europe this past season?

They did sign Oscar Eklind. He is not former NHL but he did play in Europe. If MM comes over they need to find ways to make him comfortable. Acquiring another Russian player makes sense.

My fear is that this offseason is low event.

by low event you mean they don't trade anyone with value like the usual suspects?

despite what they say I see them trying to get a top end free agent (lindholm overpayment?) or making a trade for a "name" player.

They also have Fedotov and Zamula already here. So there will be a comfort level of having some fellow Russian speakers to help him with his English etc.

Probably a moot point anyway.

Signing TK is an event. I think that is about the only eventful move they make. Maybe a minor move or two.

My fear is that this offseason is high event. I would love a low event offseason.

It's going to be interesting. If Michkov somehow comes over this summer (BIG if), it's almost impossible for the Flyers to NOT sign Konecny. Much hinges on that I would think.

The TK thing is a watershed moment for this team. We as fans (in here) know what they should do, and that is trade him for a big haul at the draft. But the rank and file fans everywhere else want him resigned, we (hockeybuzzers) are most definitely in the minority in Flyers fandom. This gives the team cover.

they will re-sign him regardless as many us know.

they clearly learn nothing form the past. Just a directionless franchise.

Low event to me is more of staying with the status quo. Meaning not trading Laughton or TK. Trading off some spare parts maybe. I should have phrased differently.

I really would love to see them trade Laughton, TK and make a real push to trade Sanheim. Then see what you can do on Risto, RyJo, Atkinson and other players.

In the end, I do not see them doing a lot. Which isn't the worst thing for sure. I just want to expedite the process a little in terms of moving players out.

I am ok with high event if it puts them in a better spot. Losing some salary, moving vets that are not part of the plan, moving TK instead of extending him. THings that show a clear path for the future.

But agree. If you can't build for the future then just run it back, have some of these deals fall off(Atkinson) and make a couple moves at the TDL.

The only thing I am taking hope in as there really hasn't been much talk of them talking deal or maybe I missed it.

I think the Flyers will make two trades this summer at least. Whether people like them or not is a different question.

Both Couturier (full NMC) and Anderson (M-NTC 5 team no trade list starting July 1) would have to approve. That is a lot of factors.

Coots will waive for Alaska to get away from Torts

I doubt Philly is on Anderson's list of 5

He had his best season under Torts, so I guess so.
