Hall and AA are the 2 flippable pending UFA's at next years trade deadline if they have decent seasons.

Considering the newfound direction, I'm not so sure how willing KD will be to trade guys away. If, by some miracle, they find a way to be within 5 points of a PO spot (yes I now, fat chance) around the TDL, I'm wondering if he just stands pat and lets them battle it out for a while.

I don't think the Hawks will bring in any top tier UFAs this season, but that might happen in the summer of 2025. KD is more likely to have targets like Teravainen, Tarasenko, DeBrusk, and D Joshua.
- DarthKane

I like DeBrusk and TT has looked good in the playoffs. Both would be kinda neat. A sign and trade for Necas would be cool. Carolina has some interesting decisions to make.

They could try the bargain bin for someone like Walhstrom to see if a change of scenery helps there. Not a lot of high opinions from Isles fans though.

Kaapo Kakko perhaps another option. At least he skates good and plays 200ft.

Offer sheeting Lucas Raymond would be hilarious and an awesome troll on the wings.

Ottawa probably has to trade someone. They'd probably like to move Norris but that will be difficult with his third shoulder surgery.

I think we should be happy if he is able to add two top 9 forwards and a not garbage RHD without doing anything crazy.

i don't see KD making moves/internal growth that gives the Hawks an additional 30 points to be 15 points behind a wild card spot

I’d be okay with DeBrusk, TT, and a serviceable RD, but I would not give up much for a Walhstrom or Kakko.

Why you gotta fart in my soup bowl? Sure it's a long shot, but who doesn't like to place a bet on team no one expects much out of? Heck, Philly almost tried to get worse in the offseason and ended up 12 pts better. It's hockey. Crazy poop can happen.

Although realistically, you are right of course...

Hey Chunk, I want the Hawks to get better just as much as anyone, I guess it is my nature to be the sour one.

Anyone but Schmaltz. It's a catfight between him and Marner as far as who is the biggest chickenpoop in the Show. They could fight for hours and neither one would get hurt.

Yes bit it addresses another need that is lacking size and physicality. That has to be address this off-season more physical play and going to the dirty areas not enough this past season. Joshua domi debrusk up front on the back I don't know who would available maybe Chris Tanev beyond that is question mark.

DeBrusk and TT would OK to add.

Garland from VAN might work - VAN won't pay you to take hime but shouldn't cost much. Kakko has been up and down but might be interesting.

Of course the Player Who Cannot Return still seems like a good fit to me.

An excellent evaluator, Tony Ferrari, has a good piece on the U-18 Worlds as they enter the quarterfinals at The Hockey News. Talks about the teams and top prospects. https://thehockeynews.com...spects-and-what-to-expect

Interesting that Satan's bot is 6ft 7in with a big motor. .... And getting a look at Canada you'll notice Dman Scheafer. He stood out to me for Erie in the OHL playoffs. 2025 draft eligible.

I'd say Reichel is the only one with a better then 50/50 shot of coming back.

Including Hall and Reichel, they have 10 forwards. Add Anderson (who I believe is the "best of the rest", that's 11. Add one or two notable free agents and you are at 12-13. Maybe you bring back one of Raddysh and/or R. Johnson (just because LR seems to like him?) and that's your roster. Anyone else is going to be on a 2 way contract at best. With the number of prospects joining Rockford next year (Ludwinski, Hayes, Savoie, possibly Nazar and Slaggert), I don't think they will be retaining many of these guys.

- Chunk

Nice work here, Chunk. Puts names to possible spots and shows that indeed competition for what will be few NHL spots is here. A new phase of the rebuild. ..... It gets funner for the fan.

I think Slaggert is an NHL player. Looks like a lesser Hagel. Also think Anderson is an NHLer too. Like Slaggert a lotta IQ and it shows in his fancies. IIRC he had the best corsi on the squad. Both guys have good reads and make plays in all 3 zones but won't be guys leaned on for offense........ Not saying the AHL isn't a good move for those two next yr only that IMO they will be NHL players.

And if I'm correct in DelMastro's troubling skating in his 2 game NHL look goys like Phillips and Allan will pass him on the depth chart. I still believe Phillips will be and NHLer with the Hawks or not.

Mighta been Wiz who mentioned a rumor was BUF would listen on offers for Quinn. This is the kinda add I'd hope KD and Crew have their ear to the ground on. A 22-23 yr old prospect that hasn't disappointed but is boxed out due to a number's game or the cap. ........ Quinn by the way was an 8th overall pick. IIRC most thought that was a bit of a reach at the time but regardless the kid was over a pt per in the AHL and has passed the eye test in the Bigs.

If Pesce goes UFA, I hope KD would be all over that.
- LAHawk

I like Pesce, a RS Dman with good size and good defensively. But at 29 yrs old how many yrs you wanna give him, LA?....... Jones and Murphy will be around for at least 2 more yrs IIRC and with Vlasic and probably KK penciled in, and probably Kaiser too, that's 5 spots with DelMastro and Allan to get looks starting next yr as 1st callups.

I would be OK with Kane and Domi plus 1 decent defenceman (with snarl to replace the quality Tinordi brought) to replace our 3 departing ones. Two year contracts ideally because we have the Cap space to comfortably fit that scenario.

The r/sabres subreddit loves him. Which means the org is probably keen on moving him.

He has one more year on his ELC though. What would get that done? I'd think Buffalo would be more interested in a forward than more draft picks?

I don't see it happening but this is a place for dreamers to dream. Let's say the Hawks, by some miracle, won the lottery and picked Celebrini. Do you think that could entice Kane to come back and add to his points total? I think the points are more important to him than another cup.

KD is changing his tune though regarding the rebuild. In the past he said he didn't know the rebuild time frame and it depended on how the prospects develop. Now he's saying that losing is unacceptable and the team has to get better.

So maybe his attitude on Kane has changed? (BTW I don't buy in the theory that he's been told to get rid of and stay away from anyone that was around in the Beach era.)
