I thought what Marqarita Bob MacKenzie write this morning is so pertinent to the slots:
MacKenzie
Buckle up because it looks like it’s going to be an unpredictable ride.
As one scout put it, “Celebrini is going No. 1, but the next five or six teams

- wiz1901[picking after No. 1] might all get the No. 2 prospect on their [respective] lists
. There’s that much varied opinion [on the top prospects after Celebrini].The lack of clear consensus beyond Celebrini — from No. 2 through to No. 10 and beyond — would be unprecedented. I’ve been doing draft rankings like this one for more than 35 years, and I don’t recall a year where the Top 10 is such a hodgepodge of opinion.”

Over the last weeks this is what all my goofy menatl exercises pulling prospects in and out of the top dozen.

And it isn't about comparing attributes...take Tig Iginla...I have to think there are more teams anamored than teams seeing him as simple mid 6 forward based on his hockey IQ, competitiveness and contagious spirit.

Teams don't have bad opinons as much as they see players that seem to fit for them better than best player andI am expecting go thinking in their long shots, becasue they ARE NOT THAN that LONG of a shot in this top 13....

I’ve been saying this for a while, I’ve never seen such massive rises in drops in the draft lists not to mention the differing opinions about the same player. I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the Blackhawk scouts meetings. I wonder if the Hawk scouts are also all over the map in their rankings? The best thing for their mental health would be to win the lottery.

I'll be surprised if they take a LD but if they do they believe he's going to be a stud.

It could make this draft a lot more exciting. If memory serves, I don't think there was a single 1st round draft day trade. With the variety of opinions out there, a few notable players could drop. There are also a lot of teams with "extra" draft capital in the next 2-3 years. At a minimum, I'm looking forward to the entertainment side of things.

Rooting for COL, VAN, or CAR to win it all this year.

Yeah. I don't mean to sound like I'm being critical of you. I'm just commenting in general that I find the play interesting from a risk vs reward aspect. It's hard to be too critical when the play worked out and they scored, but the back of my mind wonders how likely that pass would be picked off at the NHL level.

Kind of reminds me of the plays where the skilled forward tries to skate through the D to make an individual play. Odds are often good they will lose the puck, turn it over and the team transitions to defense, but there is the chance they manage to pull it off, it's a pretty play.

BB, for me, the point of interest/emphasis was Kaiser had the vision/IQ to SEE the play. Then, as he always does, and what I like about him, is Kaiser ACTED on his read quickly if not immediately. That it worked or not means less to me.

Kaiser is a player to me. Kid makes plays off his solid reads, quickly.

It's a lotta fun, Wiz! ..... Love what McKenzie has to say cuz it looks that way to me as well. I've posted I would be fine if the Hawks took Parekh, Buium, D!ckinson, Levshunov, Lindstrom, Eiserman or even Demidov or Siliyev (if they weren't Russian) at the 2 slot. ..... Those players are that jumbled for me but believe an NHL franchise will gobble up most of these Dmen first cuz the value that they represent, a solid chance at 1st pairing or at least a 2nd pairing floor prospect, save for Parekh who could end up the best player of the draft, a Shattenkirk or a Bovquist. Super high ceiling super low floor.

And I think NHL franchises see the players much the same way in their rankings, that the top 8ish, after Celibrini, are interchangeable. That 2 thru 8 are BPA's!! And it's just a matter of preference.

Like Boston has all the Dmen about even, I know it seems crazy but I think that's what McKenzie is talking about, but they prefer a rugged type so they go D!ckinson. A Rado, and the way they like to play, take Buium. The Pens would go Parekh.

All ranked even, all are BPA, but you take your preference and if D!ckinson is gone a Boston would gladly take Buium, Buium is gone and the Avs would gladly take Levshunov.

Excited to see a team without all the dead weight next year. There’s so much talent in the second and third tiers of these contender teams, would love to get a couple above average names in free agency.

If we can have less guys named Johnson and less guys making three times their fair market value… I’ll be happy.
I’ve nearly given up my Murphy crusade, at the risk of sounding like a broken record and not wanting to spoil his eternal prospect status.

Since the Blackhawks are leaving NBC Sports, I wonder if that means we lose Pat Boyle, and the insider who isn't Romeliotis (sic) ????

I sure hope so.

Since news will be a bit slow until tomorrow, hows about a theoretical.

If the Hawks miraculously win the lottery again and get Celebrini. Would you then consider trading for Marner?

You would theoretically then have a 200' center in Celebrini, a small point producing monster in Bedard, and basically what amounts to a much higher point producing version of Versteeg. Hall gives you half a season, and you hope for additional growth from Kurashev, and Reichel to get on track.

Hey, it's not the dumbest thing I've posted, but probably close.

Saginaw will now wait for the champions of the WHL , OHL and QMJHL to be determined for the Memorial Cup beginning May23. If Parekh was playing hurt in the OHL playoffs this will give him some time to get better and hopefully show what he’s capable of. Or it might expose him as a regular season superstar.
- paulr

Paul, do you have a subscription to The Athletic? Wheeler did his post World's rankings. Mentioned he heard Parekh played injured thru the playoffs!!! Assuming he is dinged hopefully he is heathy for the Memorial Cup cuz this dude made no impact in the OHL playoffs. ....... Just seeing him not jump in on the rush and settle for 25 ft wristers tells me all I need to know. He's dinged.

But, reading Wheeler's evaluation it seemed like I could have written all of them in the top 10. He was watching and got the nuance of each kid and goes beyond that noting the kid's 16-17 yr old seasons to show development.

Good read. You read his Buium eval and he gushes, correctly I'd add, about every damn thing he does yet has Levshunov, who he rightly notes, is still in his early stages of developing and he needs some projection which I posted a few days ago, ahead of Buium..

The S. Jones for Marner rumors seem to be still popping up. Marner is making a lot and I would be uncertain how to fit him in in a couple of years, so I would hesitate to trade for him. In the spirit of crazy trade proposal season, though, I'll throw out the following:

S. Jones to Toronto
Marner to Washington
Carlson and 2022 draftee Andrew Cristall to Chicago

.... or similar, theme is Jones to Toronto, Marner to third team, RD and prospect to Chicago.

Nyet.

Marner holds all of the cards for now with his NMC. He"ll ask the Leafs for a new deal at Nylander $$ minimum. Or tell them he might waive the NMC to go to a team he prefers that's willing to give him a long term deal at Nylander money (or more).

Marner has 2 tough agents that rep him - Darren Farris and his father.

Hawks don't need the grief.

The chances S. jones waves to go to Toronto is (or any cCanadien team quite frankly) IMO is minuscule.
