Bastool Bob did not do a rebuild, he did a re-tool. He kicked the can down the road and tried to catch lightning in a bottle, and it never happened. Those were good Ducks teams, but not good enough to beat the Blackhawks or the Kings. Then Anaheim was stuck in purgatory, which is the absolute worst place to be, not good enough to win, not bad enough to draft really good players. Verbeek had to fix that or the Ducks become the west coast version of the Sabres.

Those teams your talking about made the conference finals twice and won six straight division titles. That's usually considered successful. And if What the Ducks do now reachs the same amount of wins I'd say that it's successful too. Success is hard to measure sometimes. Usually I count it as any team that makes the conference finals as successful. Usually the first 2 rounds are aginst division opponents. So winning 2 rounds is really hard.

Idiotic trades and signings crushed us.
Andy Mac unreal poor trade -
Thicc Nick over pasta and larkin 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Getting rid of Palms -

Some incredible bad luck with Despres and Lydman ..

As for his assertion on taking to long - Mason / Leo / Z / Minty and Olen just went basically straight to the league

Andy Mac was Brian Burke's incredible short-sidedness. Same with Palmieri but at least he had the salary cap as an excuse there. Signing Todd Bertuzzi and Mathieu Schneider when he had to have a pretty good idea that Selanne and Niedermayer would re-sign is one of the most idiotic deals the Ducks have ever made. Not Kunitz for Whitney idiotic but it's a close second.

Yeah I don’t like this in the playoffs for six straight years, but I’m willing to ride out one more.

Cutter is legit - he definitely could’ve handled the flyer situation better but a 19 or 20-year-old …hell I’m glad nobody held me to those kind of decisions when I was that age.

We also got to get insanely lucky in the draft.
Z @ 9
Minty @ 9
Gaucher @ 23
Baby Z in the 2nd round along with Luneau as a 2nd rounder … Noah Warren…
Gaucher...what do you know about Gaucher?
These are all the backbone of our next decade…

Drafting is everything -

I think my concern for the Ducks has shifted from the GM front office, to the coaching staff.

I mean, was there really any progress this year? Poor defensively, crap special teams, no coordinated offense. All of these young players are trying to do things solo, rather than with their teammates.

It was good to see they did some coaching bench clearing in the last week or two. There are some pretty tired and overused names on staff....
