You'll be taking that chance alone.
By your logic we should try and get Matt Murray back.

Kuemper has lost it between the ears, and you can see it watching him.

I wouldn't go after Ulmark either.
I think Detroit quietly hit a home run with Alex Lyon. I hate dealing with Yzerman cause we always get fleeced but I'd try and pry Lyon out of there.

I get what your saying with Matt Murray but Kuemper is not Matt Murray. He is only 2 years removed from lifting the cup where Murray was 3. Kuemper had a longer resume - more wins, more GP, and is less $ and term. He is an update on Korpisalo IMO. Matt Murray played 50 games once, Kumper has played 57 3x in his career, with 2 of them coming in the past 3 years (including cup win with COL). I think he's worth the chance for sure. Less $ than Korpisalo too

Better to trade away Forsberg to try someone else for the same price point or slightly cheaper. Dan Vladar. Or Stolarz. Really high on Stolarz.

saw this on another page -

Chrychrun for Lars Ehlers.

Doubt either would wave their NMC.

We don't just have to move him for the coveted RD. We also need someone to be Tarasenko 2.0.

Berube was never going to sign in Ottawa .... Toronto was always his goal IMO. I don't even believe that Ottawa was his 2nd or 3rd choice.

I was never a fan behind the signing of Berube.

He likes a heavy game, not unlike Florida, where he wants his guys to grind you down for 60 minutes.

Given the current Leaf roster, Berube is going to have to change some of the emphasis of his coaching priorities. Or, the Leafs have decided they are gong to go a different direction on some parts of the existing roster.

I just don't see Matthews, Marner, Nylander or Tavares trying to grind out a win.

Okay. Now that Brind'Amour has been extended by Carolina, and its all but certain that Sullivan (Pittsburgh) and Cooper (Tampa) are staying put with their respective teams, it is time for the coachless teams to get to work and fill their positions.
New Jersey, Seattle, San Jose, Winnipeg need a coach. LA Kings and St. Louis still have interim coaches.

When the musical chairs stop .... who do you think is going to end up in each city?

Will anyone get Quennville (assuming the NHL lets him back in)?

Will we see any first time NHL coaches from the AHL/College ranks?

The cap hit on the buy out of Josh Norris is $1,477,272 (average over 12 years). The actual pay out is $17.366m and the total saving is $34.733m.

Not a bad option. Buy out would be my second choice after considering the possibility of an injury based retirement.

I do not discount the the value of his returning to form and having a solid season.

But, this is a tough business. The buy out option works really well for a team that is having to weigh choices on a younger player with a long term deal.

A healthy Josh Norris is still 25-30 goals, 50-55 point potential every year

Pretty tough to walk up to your owner and ask him to pay $1.477 million per year for 12 years ..... for an empty space.
The better option is to rehab Norris, strengthen him up and play him. Maybe Norris never reaches his potential. Maybe he gets injured again .... LTIR is a good place ..... insurance pays the contract at that point. Doesn't cost the owner anything and you get cap space.

I look at the composition of this team and I think they need very little to become a serious contender.

Staios says he would like to add a goal scorer.

There are going to be some nice players available.

I am thinking they want a bigger body that does hard to the net.

Way too much for Laine. All he has been is a disgruntled underperforming player on any team he has been on. Laine, PLD, etc. ..... teams have got to stop looking at these players and thinking that maybe they can be the one to change them.

I don't disagree. But my offer isn't an overpay in my opinion.
It leaves Columbus on the hook for Chabbot if they can't get a serviceable defenseman out of him for another 5 years. And Forsberg this year.

They paid significantly to acquire Laine (though I think that GM is gone now) and he's off the books in two years. Ottawa is gambling on him being in shape, motivated to prove himself.

very little?

1. #1 Right shot D-man
2. #2 Center
3. #2 LW
3. #2 RW (after Giroux is gone) but lets assume he's here
4. starting goalie AND back up - huge holes
5. depth forwards
6. depth d-men
