there are better techniques than others and ways of playing the percentages, but goalies probably ought to stick with whatever style they're most comfortable with, depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

never liked it. why twist and fold yourself up unnaturally that way? it's not an easy position to get out of. seems like you'll blow out your knee leaning on it to try to get your shoulder up to stop a short side shot. it's unnecessary to me. unnecessary stress on the knee, the hip. just weird.
