In any case....I think your coach is right and I like how he spoke through media a bit:

(paraphrase)
Can't give them (Oilers) 4,5,6 PP's cause that's how they thrive. Hope we are allowed to just play (shot at refs vs LA).

Every coach and player knows what that team is eh - and that it just seems refs give them and McJesus a PP when they need one at important times in game.

Good Luck vs the Edmonton McPower Plays...and with that creeper lord hummer - hes been running around saying how its gonna huge or yuge I suppose. Hes getting everyone jacked up and calling for Oilers fans to get on this board. This is maybe the biggest of his life...hes busting man....biggest aside from the day his dad showed him how to tip cows (at that time for practice it was Tipping Meemaw).

Arrogant maybe some fans are. I’m a long time diehard fan & other things bother me much more than those fans.

As for Leafs there is more than just the fans that irritate us out here & in other provinces. Like someone said it’s Leafs headlining sports networks no matter how good or bad there were or are. Hockey doesn’t revolve around Toronto like the media portrays it. Nobody can argue Leafers passion & large following. It’s the bias when there are 6 other teams who take a back seat far too often.

- Nighthawk

Yes it does. Always has and will....and to your other comment (consolidating before I run off here). Why would they give a slice of pie to Vancouver. Who would watch. Its simple:

- you run something and make money based on viewership
- viewership results from interest
- you would not put the team from vancouver on the tv
- focus would be making money, so Toronto/Montreal

Canucks could win the Cup this year and around Canada and the US - you folks would be the only ones who remembers 5 years from now.

I was a wings fan. Mr Hockey got me idolizing him then onto Orr not the Bruins. Back then my real team was the WHL Canucks who were dominant in 1968 & 69 before finally in the NHL in 1970. Both the Leafs & Habs owners wouldn’t share the HNIC Saturday night pie. That is what put a tiger in my tank & began my hate for Ballard & all things Leaf.
- Nighthawk

I wanted the hawks to beat the (frank)ing Habs they just couldn’t quite do it.

I agree if you are an eleven mil player you need to be the straw that stirs the drink and not the salted rim. I will let others respond instead of me seeing I have already beaten this to death and people like Lefty think I hate Petey.
- VANTEL

If I come across as hating Petey then I speak poorly. What’s new lol

I simply expect the best players to be their best. Not every shift & every game but they should make an impact & that has not been the case in 30-40 games now. Imo it’s all between his ears & he’ll figure it out. Speaking of from between the ears I’ll kick back & see who here can show some of it lol

Ty

I actually just got back from work in Grande Prairie a few days ago. It was strange watching Canucks/Oil at the end of the season at Mr Mikes in Hinton on my stop over on the way there.. There was 3 each of Oiler & Canucks fans in there.

4 teams were good and 2 were crap, leaves and Habs were always stacked.
- Bettmanhatesus

Aka territorial protection of players to stack their teams was a HUGE competitive edge. Makes for many cups won being farcical tbh.

Oh my goodness! Did I put League rather than Association? Well that makes the point that it was in 1915 and NOT the NHL irrelevant.

...this will now trigger a classic 11 posts per page by you huh?

You are old enough to remember the PCHA Championship in 1915? That's the 'roots' of hockey? In all seriousness son - you are probably the least knowledgeable poster in this board from my point of view. You know so little about the game. You make comments that are ridiculous about the game you are apparently watching. I respect your passion for the game - but you were Single A at best playing eh bud

My favourite part:"...the roots of the games rules" - Classic! That make s no sense in the context of what we were discussing. Were there highlights on of a hockey game? Trying to figure out what was going on?...The guys with the big pads are called goalies.

I'm done with you duster

- Big23Questions

1915 or 1967 same same in the dinosaur era of hockey. The NHL only made it 1 of 6 teams could win the Cup along with the competitive advantage the Habs & Leafs had with player territorial rights. Hardly a fair system til the draft was brought in. Notice how many cups were won since? Even playing field negates most of those cups racked up when they had control of talent.

I remember & saw Keon raise the cup in ‘67. Not my problem your memory is weak. Too bad it’s beddy by times out east when other games are on out west. Your loss lol

Really? The same? It wasn't even the same bloody league man.

And again with the Cups chirp to Leafs...CANUCKS HAVE NEVER WON A CUP EVER. You came in the league and have had ZERO success at winning Cups. Zero.

1970 - 2014 vs 1967 - 2024....a 3 year difference in futility. Bud it truly is the dumbest chirp your fan base could possibly make. 3 years.

If you think 1915 and 1967 is the same...1967 and 1970?

This is why I cant continue with you. I forgot. Have a good one watching (but not understanding) Round 2.

You exclude context conveniently.

Start with no team can win a cup if not in the league. So moving ahead BOTH teams have nada since 1970 it starts & ends there. No?

Lastly both teams exemplify futility in the past 54 years. Fact & fair.

Just being smug nothing more. All in good fun. I realize you’re not a fan of the Canucks but all fans of hockey are just that. As long as we can pitch & catch it’s all good.

Hockey is & always will be the greatest game. To win 4 gruelling black & blue series truly makes it the hardest sport in North America to win a cup. That’s my bias & Canadian point of view I truly believe in. America may see it that way one day but long after I’m gone.
