Went to the IceHogs game. Reichel's 2 goals were NHL quality for sure. 5 on 5 did not do much. Lots of blind passes that were turnovers. Commesso let in a bad goal in the first but was a brick wall in the 2nd period with a couple of great saves. I know there are a lot of Kaiser fans here and he did play hard but lost his edge several times and didn't do much. Phillips took a selfish penalty. Did not add much offense. Didn't hit anybody. Roos could have been called for 5 cross checks. Did not add much. Crevier was not noticeable which is pretty good for him. I've seen DelMastro a few times live and he looks slow to me. I noticed he was not racing to get into plays. Does looks solid along boards. Knocked pucks out of the air. I don't think Strand is a prospect but he played hard. Not too much there to be excited about.

Always good to see you posting, Steve, and especially about RKF and a live viewing. Where did you sit?...... Very interested in Commesso. How were his movements? Was he clean/efficient? How was his tracking, quickness, depth and getting to square? Notice his command of the crease? Was he calm in an elimination game?....... Anything you can talk about in those regards? .... And gun to your head were you looking at a future NHL goalie?
I've never seen Del Mastro's skating as a hinderance and in fact thought he was a balanced skater. Didn't have the feet to jump in regularly as a 4th forward type more of moving nicely in small areas, controlling his area big guy kinda skater.
Until his 2 games with the Hawks and now you're seeing similar, heavy feet. Don't know the player well enough to say anything with certainty but good chance he's dinged. ....... Guess we're gonna have to wait for camp to know by the eye test but what I saw from his feet up with the Hawks was damn near a deal breaker. |

For those following the OHL playoffs Ottawa's Sennecke is not dressed for this Game 7!! Don't know why.
In the WHL one series still undecided. Game 6 tonight @ Prince George with Portland up 3-2 in that series. |

Nyet.
Marner holds all of the cards for now with his NMC. He"ll ask the Leafs for a new deal at Nylander $$ minimum. Or tell them he might waive the NMC to go to a team he prefers that's willing to give him a long term deal at Nylander money (or more).
Marner has 2 tough agents that rep him - Darren Farris and his father.
Hawks don't need the grief. - RickJ
If he moves I’d bet Marner ends up in Pittsburgh.

Since news will be a bit slow until tomorrow, hows about a theoretical.
If the Hawks miraculously win the lottery again and get Celebrini. Would you then consider trading for Marner?
You would theoretically then have a 200' center in Celebrini, a small point producing monster in Bedard, and basically what amounts to a much higher point producing version of Versteeg. Hall gives you half a season, and you hope for additional growth from Kurashev, and Reichel to get on track.
Hey, it's not the dumbest thing I've posted, but probably close. - Chunk farabee from Philly I think would a better fit and cheaper against the cap.

I have to believe the rumors of Marner coming to Chicago are pretty much fairy tails. After watching his performance in the playoffs Mr Charmin soft isn't coming to play for LR. Some GM will get dumb i'm looking at Utah as they need star power and Marner proved beyond a doubt he is a regular season player. I read one rumor today of the Hawks sending multiple first' to TO for him, only way i make a trade is Seth Jones straight up and we know he's not waving to come north of the border. |

Marner for Jones with no team eating any of the contracts. Then move Marner at the TDL. |

That’s about the only palatable scenario for the Hawks. |

That would be worth it to get rid of the years of Jones contract that could be put to much better use. |

Only if KD has a plan to acquire 1-2 RHD. At some point in the season Murphy will be out with an injury, without Jones and Murphy the Hawks defence is pretty sad. |

Sat high in the south west corner near the BBQ stand for the 1st period. UC food is way better. To Commesso's left. I did not like the 2nd goal and thought he was too deep. In the 2nd, we sat in 217. Had to move 10 seats north because the woman behind us would not stop talking. Commesso was awesome. Tracking, moving, flashing pads. Looked great. Moved behind the Griffins net for the 3rd. Hogs were pressing hard. Commesso got beat on a delayed penalty call. I was on the other side of the rink so it was hard to comment if it was good or not. He made an acrobatic dive to try and make the save. As for being NHL, he's got the size and look for sure. Does he have the mind to play NHLers night after night with the Hawks D in front of him? Going to be tough for anyone.
I really want to believe in Del Mastro. Has the leadership intangibles that the Hawks seem to be missing. As I mentioned yesterday, when the play moved up ice he wasn't skating hard to support just behind the forwards. I hate watching players glide during their shifts. When Pronger was playing 30 minutes and an MVP ok he can could glide. Sunday night elimination game in Rockford, bust it for every shift.
I'm guessing we have seen the end of Sorensen in Rockford and the Hawks are going to have to bring in a very experienced coach, probably and ex NHLer. I hope they sign Eakins. They cannot screw up the players that come through Rockford now.

The Draft Lotto results i would think may have a impact on some personal moves. If the Hawks don't get the #1 there are a few rather good D-man that could possibly replace Jones? |

They came they took names and wow what a response in the 3rd. The time out called by the Bruins with 14min left in the 3rd was the game changer. |

It is somewhat damning of a coach to have one of the highest rated pipelines in the league, a good chunk of which is on your AHL team with a smattering of guys who played 10+ games at the top level, and not be able to go deep into the playoffs.
I’ll give credit that Grand Rapids also has a logjam, but I was expecting more out of this team. Hope the next coach they have is as highly regarded as Eakins is. |

When they are both gone there ought to be at least a 50% roster turnover..By the end of the '25 - '26 season I hope that translates into a competitive team in the playoff hunt |

Jones and Murphy ...
Sounds like a law firm
One which would have large billboards and advertisements
Only instead of them being lawyers looking to help us out
It is a fan base who would like to help them out
Jettison out of town, be tail.lights
Although Darth Kane.is right!
We need theses two RH D men for a while longer
....until someone else can adequately replace them[url] |
