Cats & Bears: RD 2, GM 6

After a flat performance in Game 5 that saw the Panthers lose 2-1 to the B’s — while simultaneously wasting a stellar performance from Bob — Florida might be feeling a bit on their heels.

However, and taking my fandom out of it, I still believe the Panthers are the better/stronger team.

Outside of the general lack of execution in Game 5, the Cats failed to do something that had worked so well for them in their previous wins: get bodies to the net.

For some reason, Game 5 saw Florida fail to make Swayman uncomfortable in his crease. He certainly had to make some nice saves, but the persistent pressure from attacking Panthers was never really established. He saw many shots unobstructed, never really having to be deal with/worry about havoc out front.

That needs to change tonight.

We also need to see Tkachuk have a big game. He has one goal (GM 1), and three assists (GM3). So I’m looking for him to step up big time today.

And after a dull outing, it makes sense to inject some energy and agitation back into the lineup:

While I think the fourth line has been awesome all series, I think this lineup is due for a little shake up after Game 5.

Despite Lomberg missing time, and Cousins out for a bit, the energy intangibles make up for any “rust” they might have.

I look forward to seeing Lomberg flying around out there, with Cousins (hopefully) getting underneath Boston’s skin…

No doubt about it, fellas…this is a huge game. Lose here and the B’s truly have the momentum. Let’s not let them do to us what we did to them last season.

Florida is best when they’re driving the pace. Need the Cats to get back to dictating and controlling the game, not reacting.

Dig deep. Come out strong. Don’t let up.
