Less travel is a big help. Should be more time & space out there for us. Clean breakouts & passing is a must cuz transition hockey is in the Oilers fave if we play loose or sloppy. If dump & chase then bang & pressure Bouchard. Keep our net front clean & make them earn it.

I agree with that, we didn't show much in the first round and if not for some lucky bounces and a missed empty net, maybe we don't make it here. I like our chances but IF we win, it'll be in 6 or more likely 7 and by the skin of our teeth again.

It would be nice to get a Saturday game. Now that the Laffs are out, it should happen.

It’s not surprising, hopefully they hear about it and use that disrespect as fuel

Thank you Mr. Newbury.

And now onto the most boring play by play announcer in the entire NHL television network. If you want to be put to sleep watching an exciting game, this guy from Alberta is just the guy for you, must be an Alberta thing to be stupid and inbred, like the Red Deer redneck Richard.

True story.

I grew up with a Dman who lived 2 doors down, he was my brother's age. He was a 5th round draft pick of the Habs years ago. Big guy, bruising shot. Skating wasn't quite good enough despite the amount of time he put into it.

Full ride to Cornell, dentist.

Thankfully, my Dentist isn't into Hockey. I'd probably get a new one if I found out he was an ex Dman.

We're a team that jumped out ahead of the Oilers from the start of the season, overtook LA and Vegas and held on to win the division. Part of that was being without our starting goalie. The Oilers also had a coaching change which helped turn their team around. They also jumped the aforementioned teams despite a horrible start.

We're still without our starting goalie, and we haven't been as impressive as earlier in the year. I don't see it as a surprise that the Oilers are the betting favourite. I do take comfort in home ice advantage.

Do I care that the Canucks are the underdogs? I like it. Just bring your A game and go from there. Hopefully Demko continues to get healthier.

It's not that I'm not behind the team, it's just I think some people are putting the cart before the horse. We won round 1 against Nashville, great, but we sure didn't win going away and it could've easily have gone Nashville's way if not for fortuitous bounces and timely goaltending and that Nashville really didn't have the firepower to throw against us. That doesn't scream that we should be favorites against the Oilers that played a similar team in LA and dominated them. That's why we're home dogs, it has nothing to do with whether I support the team or not, I agree with the oddsmakers because looking at how both teams have played so far Edmonton has played better.

You are misinformed.

Copied directly from The Tennessean.
"Since Feb. 1, Nashville ranks second in the NHL in goals per game (3.71), second in shots per game (34.4), and second in power play success (27.2%)."

They went 20-7-3 in their last 30. It's not like we just beat a team of hacks. They were firing on all cylinders until we shut them down.

Yeah, and we didn't dominate them, we shut them down and deservedly won the series but again that doesn't scream that we ought to be home favorites against an Oilers team that ran through the LA Kings that played a similar style to Nashville. We were playing close to .500 hockey when we entered the playoffs too (not that regular season success/lack of means much in the playoffs) but whatever.

Not about favorites more about who executes their game plan best. What they did previously doesn’t matter.

Prior to playoff positioning I had thought the better match ups for Canucks were Preds then Oilers and Stars as a path to finals. So far it’s going fine. Time for Canucks to rise to the occasion and outwork the Oil.

You've got to be kidding. Playoffs are about winning not who dominates. We played the style we needed to play to win the series. I'm going out on a limb and gonna say they'll make changes against the Oilers because their strengths and weaknesses are different than the Preds. But to discredit the win against a very hot team for the reasons your giving is nitpicking IMHO.

I provided the stats that shows we beat a team that was right up there with the league's best down the stretch. You can ignore it, but it's a fact.

Edit: Thanks Nighty
