If I were an Islanders I'd be furious today. That's exactly how you do not play a post season game. To have only 13 shots, 2 in the period is beyond insane - blacksheep1
Whenever the isles get the lead they go into that 1-3-1 trap and try to protect it.The problem is they’re not good enough to do it for a whole period against the canes! They tried against the rangers also! It’s also funny tha a lot of isles fans blames the officials for the two losses! |

I never think a team is done in a series till they lose a home game but that's a HARD loss to get over the Islanders had, BRUTAL |

They must be really bad at it, then. I watched the majority of the game and I don't remember seeing them stand up in the neutral zone much. It was more like Torts "everybody in front of the net and try to block everything." They were firing the puck down for icing as soon as it was on their sticks, even in the 2nd period! |

Lou is responsible for this mess. He brings back the same old and tired roster each year and cannot even move on from Martin or Cal. This has nothing to do with puck luck or the refs. The NHL is about speed and skill and Lou is stuck in the past. |

They're just so slow. And, in fairness, it wasn't one period, it was two.
They played on their heels for a full two periods and eventually just broke. You can't go 35 minutes and only get one shot on net. |

I know we're only one game in. But, if the team continues their current level of play, you are either going to have to admit they have learned from last playoffs or start being very careful in your posting. |

They definitely learned from last year. They looked past the devil's and it bit them. This year is a different animal |

I said it Monday, they way they played Sunday, minus the dip in the 2nd period, was how teams should want to play.
But also, random guys do love scoring vs the Rangers. You can't tell me that isn't true. |

We aren't even up 2-0 yet, and we managed to blow two of those leads in a row. We looked like cup champs in the making last year thru two games of the playoffs, so we need to wait and see. The trouble this team has always had is sustaining their level of play in the playoffs, especially when their backs aren't against the wall. The real test of this series will be if/when we get up 2-0, 3-1, etc., how do we play THEN? |

They have a coach who actually coaches now. I would call that learning |

I agree with this. Still feeling good about our play thus far but we need to close out the series and not let the caps hang around. We've lacked that killer instinct in the past and it has always come back to bite us. But this is a new team and new staff so hoping for something different |

I still remember my first Ranger/Isles game at the Garden in 1987, Ranger fans holding down a Isles fan to try & pee on him, the doobie smoke & cigarette reek in the stairwells. - B2B76
