You have to give some insulation to the team though. If you don't have somebody with experience to go with him (or at least an equal talent prospect), then you could risk throwing him into a bad situation with a poor run of form and nobody to replace him.
The Bernier trade does however make sense from the point of view of safety in (prospect) numbers, then let Reims, Scrivens and Bernier fight it out in camp to see who is number one. You then have somebody to dangle as trade bait.

I'd rather a vet than another inexperienced goaltender. Bernier is very average.
