I make no apologies about it: strange things amuse me. My greatest joys come from the bizarre things in life. Those things one can't predict. Those choices people make where words cannot adequately say what this expression does:
And while the "Silly Season" for many people kicked off with free agency, and the "Lazy Days of Summer" are upon us, my "Bat Crap Crazy Annual" hit the ground running yesterday, hopefully with no signs of slowing down!

Philadelphia Flyers’ star forward Claude Giroux was arrested on Canada Day in Ottawa after “repeatedly grabbing the buttocks of a male police officer,… according to a report out of Ottawa.A witness and other sources reportedly told the Ottawa Sun newspaper the incident took place outside a bar in the Byward Market area around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Police have not released any information and Giroux, 26, was not charged, though he did spend the night in a cell, the Sun reported.
“We cannot confirm or deny the subject of a police investigation unless charges are laid, that’s our line,… said Ottawa Police spokesman. Const. Marc Soucy.
Just want to be clear:
A) Not goofing on the guy being arrested. Mistakes happen.
B) Not goofing on potential inebriation. Any of us saying we haven't made choices with a few pops in us that we wouldn't have dry is likely blowing a little smoke...
BUT.......repeatedly, albeit allegedly, grabbing a cops ass? How very...odd...?
Let’s face it: A situation like this comes with a larger context, but when there are likely to be no charges, and the starting point involves discussing why you allegedly grabbed Officer Joe’s tukus repeatedly outside a bar, there’s probably not a lot of drive to open that conversation, right?
But (no pun intended) the real thing here has to be what Monsieur Giroux will be facing from the teammates, no? Sure, no charges coming his way, but (no pun intended) you've gotta think he's gonna be the butt (total pun!) of some razing by the boys…
Being that this occurred on July 1, this likely has no legs to make it into the season as fodder for fan taunts and signage...or does it? Will be interesting to see what fans in the New York and Pittsburgh area tuck away…
