Any guy can tell you: the “Phantom Scrotal Impact Pain Syndrome… is a legitimate, albeit under-discussed, phenomenon amongst men. What's the point of this, other than the opportunity to tread into juvenile territory and use the word “nards…? This: us guys are quite susceptible to taking on the pain of our brothers from a different mother, especially when something within the realm of guy-dom has been violated. I experienced such a hit to my feels the other day as I heard about this nasty theft from a fellow collector in Waterford, ON: (Credit to Toronto Sun)

OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk told the Simcoe Reformer more than 500 cards went missing from a Waterford, Ont., home sometime between March 29 and April 18.
“We’d like to see if we can get these cards back to this gentleman. He’s quite upset,… Sanchuk said.
Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell Gretzky cards and to report it to police, he said.
“These cards will definitely stand out,… Sanchuk noted.
That was an unquestionable phantom kick to my collecting twig and berries my friends. At that value one can assume there were likely some highly graded cards amongst the bunch, and if this gentleman chased Gretzky then a rookie card was likely among the bunch. The time it took to build! The money spent! The pride in showing it off! Don't mistake this for a glancing blow. This was nothing short of a full powered swinging foot covered in a steel-toed boot. He’s quite upset Constable Sanchuk? I’m surprised he was able to indicate that from his quivering blob of fetal position locked agony…
What really sucks about this is the “went missing… statement, suggesting it may have been done by someone in the home or invited in by a resident. Violating to the n’th degree. Hopefully the unnamed victim is able to recoup some of these items, but I think we all know what the chances of getting the whole lot back may be. If anyone reading is a dealer or buyer in sports memorabilia in Ontario, be on the lookout for any lots of Gretzky items being offered up for sale as it may be pieces of the missing collection from above. Hopefully it goes without saying as to what the appropriate follow up would be if you have suspicions…
