this prevents the Leafs from getting Parise as an UFA.

With Neil signing, Staal should be available for trade this off season.

Remove the 4 above contracts and the Leafs have hope.

And those are all Brian Burke signings. If Ferguson Jr. Was responsible he would be getting crucified by the media and fans. Yet Burke continues to get his free pass despite having achieved virtually nothing since coming to Toronto. Why??

You're right except for Lombardi. I don't think anyone expected him to get back into the line up ergo having to pay that $3.5 million.
