Assuming that Nashville makes that deal which includes Blum, then you would have to assume that they're keeping Suter (which they might anyway) meaning that, with Carter on the books, he's walking for nothing in July.

I would trade carter if I was the Jackets. I think a ton of teams would want him too. Yes its a long contract, but 5.2 for a guy who can get 30-40 goals a year. With the way contracts go up and how crazy they are getting its a steal. Plus I never bought into the he has a bad attitude and party boy crap. These guys are in there 20s and millionares thye can have fun. Being from philly I always thought that was a media driven story from a writer that didn't like carter and richards. I have been out and seen Flyers drinking and having a good time more then once. Some of those players are still on the team. Yet you never hear a thing about it. So for me I think carter would be a huge pick-up for any team.

To the kings would make a lot of sense as they have the assets and to Detroit would be deadly, especially because they have the cap room, but I don't see them taking on his contract.

As a Leaf fan, without being called delusional, how about a Carter and Nash to TML for Kule, Bozak, Komi, Schenn, 2012 1st, D'Amigo ?? Cap would be close....

I get the feeling no one see's Burke taking on Carter and his contract, but stranger things have happened and it would be interesting to see the line up:

Lupul, Carter, Kessel
Nash, Grabovski, Mac
Army, Connolly, Lombardi
Brown, Steckel, Boyce/Crabb

Phaneuf, Liles
Franson, Gardiner
Gunnarsson, Aulie

I still wish/hope/prefer they somehow make a play for Statsny.

PS Kessel...SCORES!

Carter won't get traded, not because they don't want to but given the circumstances, they can't. Not only does his contract make him a tough sell but when you consider how much the blue jackets gave up to get him, they aren't going to trade him away for a draft pick. The only chance of him getting dealt is if they find a team as desperate as they were when the acquired Carter from Philly.

And, if they do find one, it won't be now. It will be in the summer.

Going with the French on this one, Carter would be great for Nashville. And that trade sounds about right, but I think they would want Suter.

I don't understand the contracts on this team at all, it's either Howson being a push over with negotiations or he simply has to over pay to keep the players in the city. Kinda like a Fort Mac situation here in Alberta, no body wants to go there... but I could pay off my truck and student loan in 8 monthes if I did.

You guys are talking about breaking this team and starting fresh but who is going to take;

Rick Nash - 7.8 - 2018
Jeff Carter - 5.27 - 2022
RJ Umberger - 4.6 - 2017
Antoine Vermette - 3.7 - 2016
James Wisniewski - 5.5 - 2017
Fedor Tyutin - 4.5 - 2018
and Mike Commodore on the books for 1.2 until 2015

That's horrific management, not to mention I can't name you any of their prospects. Every team knows the situation they are in and won't go near those contracts, so expect them to be low balled. Howson's (frank)ed.

I wrote a blog on myhockeybuzz, can anyone tell me how to make it show up? If I search the tag - Jeff Carter - its there, at the very bottom, but how do you make it show up on the front page, so people could actually read it? Its a way better article than the one about Lemiuex posing as Gagner, someone please help. thanks

Columbus is the worst run team in the NHL. Howson should be fired soon. The next GM will trade Carter and possibly Nash as well.

Carter doesn't have a no trade clause. It never kicked in since he was traded before it did it doesn't transfer to the new team. I would go after this guy in a big way if I was a gm. His deal is very cap friendly.
