What's to say last year (after that dirty hit by Gionta) wasn't just a little setback?

Nobody can play the way he did at the end of 2011 to be so average.

Remember Jim Carey??? Vezina season then sucked. RaYcroft, Calder then pretty much sucked. Happens pretty often actually.

This is why you're not an NHL GM.

The Rangers did.

If that deal was on the table today, Howson would jump for joy.

What are you talking about? John Scott was totally worth that 5th round pick!

In their prime maybe... That roster was filled with aging vets.

Surely Dozzer, you remember him getting 40-50 shots every darn night. He broke the record twice for most shots faced in one single season.

Fair enough.. I guess you rate the leafs D higher than I do.. Until they prove they can execute carlyle's systems I'm not going to take anything for granted

My summary.. Do I think Lou is an upgrade? Yes, without a doubt.

Do I think the leafs are at the point where he'll make a major difference? No I don't.

They may he ready to play in the NHL, but I dont see either putting up significant numbers, the jump to the big club is a process. I would like to see them put on the third line together.to gain some chemistry.

I don't expect that either. At some point though, they need to be given proper ice time to make the transition. We'll be better in a few seasons because of it.

Florida was terrible. The Leafs aren't. He didn't have that kind of D in Sunrise.

He stood on his head in Florida so many times. If Florida had just a quarter of the talent we have then, they would have made the playoffs every year.

That's it!!! Burke needs to find athletes who go bald before the age of 30

Then we'll have a dynasty on our hands!!!

If that's the case (I highly doubt it is, the guy has too much character and talent), he needs to be given lots of game. If he's terrible next year, then you move on. He needs to get a chance though.
