How believable do we want these? I think I have a few that are a little less believable.

4. Heard Gillis is so desperate, he's willing to trade Kesler and Lu for Leddy and Crawford.

5. After a night on the town with Kane, Doan is willing to take a 2 year 2mil contract with the hawks.

6. The hawks are very much in on Semin.

That contract also includes a chauffeur service to prevent any Cabbie/driving issues.

3rd pairing cup year was Boynton/Sopel....that is soooooooo much better than Leddy/Brookbank
- anawrocki

Take a look at the 2nd pairing and tell me they're ready to take a beating night in and night out. JO ain't nowhere near the puck-moving capacity of Soupy.

And as long as you're talking cup year, just who here thinks DK is going to magically return to his Norris-trophy-playing capacity in 12-13 when that guy was nowhere to be found in 11-12 and 10-11.

Take a look at the bigger picture.

Im not worried about the defense. From top to bottom its better than most teams, I'd be hard pressed to name 6 teams with a better 7 defenders.

Keith
Seabrook
Oduya
Hjarlamarsson
Leddy
Brookbank
Montador

- mvp0207

The two previous cup winners for starters. They're both more physical and can play the kill better.

I'll give you the 'Hawks as constructed can be pretty damned good puck movers, but in the course of just the past 2 seasons since the 'Hawks won it all, the trend is bigger & meaner defencemen. The 'Hawks as constructed don't have that.

It's why I was for a Leddy or hammer deal when JJ alluded to it previously; figuring they could backfill with more capable physical players that could play the PK better.

JJ,

Please start a new thread. Just make something up, Eklund does it everyday.

Here are some ideas:

1. The Hawks throw an offer sheet at Versteeg.

2. Towes and Lucic were tweeting each other.

3. Bobby Lu was spotted with a real estate agent in Berwyn.

- Dieselhead

Or do a piece on how the Hawks prospects are over-hyped. Not just by the organization, but by the fans too.

It's a far sight better than what Detroit has, that's for sure.

I am most concerned about system --- special teams --- winning important draws when Toews is not on the ice and having at least 3 people suited up who will beat the piss out of anyone who goes near him or Hossa.

The coaching could use an overhaul. I'd like to see how it will improve after that.

Well, you have to lose Crawford or you have too many goalies. Olesz is obvious. I'm not sure that Leddy has a future with this team either plus we're stocked on young puck moving d-men, most of whom seem to have greater hockey sense than Leddy. So we're really not giving up anything of value to our team while gaining something of great value. Plus with that, we can go out and sign a guy like Hannan (if he's still available?) Not exciting but more of what we need.

Players do not have a singular value in the NHL. Their value is different to each team. We really don't lose anything in this trade and if Gillis is serious about losing Lu, he would be stupid not to accept such a trade.

Leddy when he is in his prime in a few years may look very similar to a guy that retired from Detroit this year IMHO. So enough with the trade Leddy unless a team dramatically overpays

Are you trying to compare Leddy to Lidstrom? If you are, you're out of your mind.

remember he is also playing with almost zero coaching and not paired with a physical defenseman

So now you're trying to find an out, just in case it doesn't come up roses for you.

Hey, if you want to put Leddy on the Lidstrom comparison pedestal, you better stick by it. Otherwise, don't bother to do it at all.

Clendenning would be a Leddy replacement - when he's ready in 2, 3 or 4 years - not now.

Leddy = Lidstrom.
