Just heard this from a Hawk source re: the hawks plans for the COnvention and dealing with fan disappointment at NO MOVES:
"They will do their best to keep selling Saad, And for that matter all our "amazing prospects" There will be a ton of Hossa talk and how well he is supposedly doing.
There will be talking about how the team got tougher, and a full year with Carcillo, Shaw, Bollig, will help "tremendously"." - John Jaeckel

This "set" roster - simply on headcount - won't cut it. We all know that. SB couldn't pull the potential OTT deal, or one with EDM, or MTL for that matter. Wonder if JJ can find out one day what held either one of those up; if they were really on the table at all.
Just now on the CBA, eh? Gonna be a blood bath .... unless .... they decide to hold the line for another year and negotiate throughout the summer, camp and the season. - blackhawk24
On the CBA...
First news out as far as owner demands was way off...So now players will counter with something just as silly...
This will take time and the best would be to keep playing through the end of the calendar year at least and work together...

I hope they are prepared to deal with a well deserved shower of boos

I think at this point, Arnott probably doesn't have enough in the tank to be a top 6 guy. He could reasonably spot there for stretches. I guess it can't be any worse than what we already have. - EKolb13
I agree he might be on the back end of his career and hasn't been a top 6 guy in the lat 2-3 years. But if you have linemates like Hoss and Sharp, it might rejuvenate, and if it doesn't work he can certainly fill a hole on another line. he wins face offs, he can play the point on the PP, he hits, he's got a big body, hits, and is a great passer.
The plugs for the holes we have are being taken off the board and banking on the big fish obviously is not working. Certainly a low risk high reward move.

Maybe the big news will be Q. finding an Asst.....And if he can't that may signal other issues. |

Arnott could possibly check a couple of boxes off in the "needs" department and could really do just fine trying to keep up with Hossa and Sharp. Then again, he could also be this coming season's Brunette too.
In all, I wouldn't mind giving him a shot, especially if Doan isn't coming here, or a trade can't be made to get a power forward or #2 center. |

How hard can it be to find a competent coach to fill the absent assistants position? The number of quality guys at various levels, who would luv an opportunity to coach at the NHL level, must be several at least.
But it's not like camp is opening tomorrow, so perhaps there's no rush...
...it's just us fans who are getting anxious for news...any kind of news.

Depending on the owners' ultimate bottom line, this is not in their interest without a guarantee that the players won't walk before the winter classic.
Owners would be better served by locking out the start of the season, hoping the players fall apart in Nov/Dec so (like the NBA with the Christmas Day games) they can make a big splash at the Big House as the beginning of the season. |

You can shorten that list to Hayes, Bollig, Flick and McNeill. Smith lacks the bigger body and Danault is not a "heavy hitter." - EKolb13
