The Thomas/Chicago angle is interesting and makes sense, except for Bolland. Quenneville loves him, and a condition of Quenneville staying (and not going to Montreal) is he gets the roster he wants this year. Put Frolik, Bickell or possibly even Jimmy Hayes in there and you might have smething. although I think the B's would have to sweeten it to get Hayes.

I don't see anyone in the front office going with the idea of Crawford and his contract riding the bench, especially when that money can be used eslewhere on the team.

Bolland for a year of Tim Thomas seems too much to me. Crawford, Beach and a mid round pick would sound like a fair deal for Thomas.

I like the lineup with Shaw and Carcillo in it together. I think it gives them real energy & grit. I still say, though, Stan can make all of the moves he wants on the D and Forward side, I just don't see a team winning a Cup with Crawford in net. Too many S-O-F-T (thank you, Larry Legend) goals at crucial times. I think our cup willing goalie is gonna have to be an in-season trade after they finally realize He is not the answer.

Only three players I would even consider from the Habs - Subban, Price, and Moen.

Pleks is too expensive.

Plekanec would be great for the 2nd line center.

He gets worn out in Montreal trying to be the #1 and also playing both PK/PP

He can do it all but would be better playing behind Toews IMO.

You're right, he is expensive. But only slightly IMO. Getting him would mean that Bolland would have to go.

Fighting aside, all three are forwards who finish checks with murderous intentions. Would be a huge improvement on this team.

I would assume if the B's moved Thomas the plan would be to roll with Rask/Khudobin, but it's not a bad fit if they can flip Khudobin for an asset. With Svedberg in the system now and Khudobin with a 1 way deal next year I would suspect they wouldn't want to put him in Providence. Value seems about right though.

Bolland seemed like too much, which is too bad, can you imagine a Bolland/Marchand/whoever line?

Maybe, what about Hjalmarsson and, say, Pirri.

They'd still need a big body power forward..

Dustin Penner has looked awfully good for the Kings in the playoffs...

But a guy like that means no #2 center and Suter or #2 center/Penner and sticking with the same dcorps as now.

Then what about goalies?

This roster allows $1.94 cap space (assuming its the same next season)

Wouldn't surprise me one iota, if the Hawks say goodbye to a couple of the older guys. Aren't Richards, Hutton and Salak all 25 or so? Wonder what Phil and Rick think about the OHL tender, Mattsson.

I think Mattson COULD end up being the best of the three. Reportedly sees more shots and has pretty good size w/ good numbers. Hopeful the Hawks org does right by their young goalie prospects, though I'm a bit skeptical.

Just because Penner has looked good in the playoffs doesn't meant that he's a guy this team needs. Penner is just an expensive version of Bickell. Either player often doesn't show up for long stretches of time. At least Bickell hasn't injured himself while eating pancakes.

My concern is that if they trade Bolland can Kruger produce at least as much offense as Bolland. Bolland had 19 goals last season and Kruger 9. I know the third line is supposed to be the shut down line but after the first two lines where will the secondary scoring come from. If the playoff versions of Frolik and Bicks show up in the regular season they might be ok if they don't the Hawks will have a tough time.
