Same ages, roughly the same numbers, but Carter has a better contract, and is a centre.

I agree completely, and if we're dealing with Columbus I hope Carter is the target and not Nash.

Would it be possible for the Leafs to grab Carter and still be able to afford to renew Grabo, or more likely he goes back the other way? Would be nice to have the added stability down the middle without taking away from what we already have

No hope in heck Columbus would take Grabbo the other way. He's a UFA at the end of the year, and there is no way he - or any guy, for that matter - will commit to staying with the train wreck that is Columbus.

Blue Jackets will want picks, or better yet, young guys who can make a contribution today, who are signed to long-term deals (i.e., they can't escape).
