Not in a good mood this morning? A good night sleep didn't make the bum-hurt go away? You know what you should do? Listen to a Bolland interview. That seemed to get the whole city laugh'in at the beginning of the year. Ya, those were good times.

Columbus has won 3 of their last 4.
- John Jaeckel

Just in time for the Hawks to drag their sorry ass in Columbus the last game of this trip. Don't think for a minute the Jackets will not do everything to throttle this team for the 4 losses they have already been given by the Hawks. And expect Bluejacket slayer Stalberg to have a major bullseye on his jersey!!

I ran into Joey the Junior Reporter at breakfast. I asked him what the Hawks could do to get out of this slump. He said "Fire the F'ing Coach". If a kid can figure it out what is wrong with Bowman?

Question JJ, in your opinion, do u feel the Hawks are tied up with too much salary to improve other areas of the team? Or the lack of depth the organization didnt realize to improve?
- Ur Not Me

Yes on the first, definitely.

On the second question, not sure I understand it. But as far as prospects they have to deal, they don't really have any "elite" prospects. They have a lot of good prospects, but most of those are 18-19 years old— harder to project.

Some of you guys were throwing your best players under the bus. Toews maybe one of the best young captains in the game, ever. Keith won the norris two years ago. Kane is a superstar. etc, etc.
Your team's management failed to find the right supporting staff. I always thought that Campbell's contract was one of the worst ever but know I'm starting to think different. Don't know much about his personality but he might have been the glue that kept this ship together. I may be totally wrong but every time he was in the line up the hawks responded. When he was out things didn't go so well.

And why your team decided to jettison big Buff is still a mystery to me. Not many players like him.

JJ,

Any idea what is up with Hossa? We know Toews and Sharp aren't 100%. Kane is on and off as always. Hossa looks like he's detoxing on methodone or something. He really hasn't looked right since the break.

Haven't heard anyone throw JT under the bus.

Keith might have "topped out" in 2009-10. Dunno. He has really struggled to find consistency since.

Not sure what your point is about Kane.

I don't think Campbell was "the glue," but I do think he and Brouwer were positive dressing room influences. And I KNOW they kept one or two guys who were les popular than those guys.

Byfuglien was/is a unique player and yes he would help this immensely right now.

This is interesting.

Would be like replacing Q. with a harder ass version of Q.

Since the Ducks won the Cup Carlyle has lost in 1st rd, 2nd rd.,
missed the playoffs and lost in 1st round....

Not a great resume plus he is a well paid guy who just signed an extension before he was fired.

So he would be expensive and would be looking for a long commititment...

My guess is he keeps cashing checks until the Jets job becomes available...

He was a fan favorite in Winnipeg for 10 yrs..

Hard to say. Guy is a consummate pro. Is he hurt or battling the flu? Demoralized form line shuffling? Definitely off his game.

Moving the Campbell contract wasn't necessarily about this year. The cap space this year would be nice if Stan can find a way to use it. Three years from now, having that cap space should be huge though.

The Hawks had a lot of lesser contracts they needed to clear in the summer of 2010. The needed to get rid of Sopel at 2+ and Eager at around a million, I think. Dudley probably demanded Buff as the price of taking the other two players off the Hawks hands and cap. Without moving Sopel and Eager, the Hawks never would have gotten under the cap.

That's been the crux of the problem all year--that & Q not getting the most of what he has. That's why so many early on in the season were convinced the Hawks weren't as good as their record. The veil has been removed for the rest to see.
