Never thought I would see someone write we miss Brouwer....but hey if someone can say we need to bring back Huet as someone did the other day I guess everything is on the table. Unloading a mammoth salary like Campbell's is alone a great move. I thought it would never happen and it will help the Hawks for years to come. As I've stated before I think Campbell is a good player but not at 7.2 million.

his salary in todays market is not out of line
the hawks would look alot better with campbell in the lineup
plus what good is cap space when noone is trading top end defenseman

that trade to date is a failure

[quote=coldsteelonice]Versteeg for Stalberg.

Did you forget to put "just kidding" after this one?

Much rather have Stalberg and his size, speed, and upside over the small turnover machine that is Versteeg (a poor man's Kane)... we already have enough of them!!!

Thank You!!!!!! Barker was not that bad for the hawks tho.

Alright, no part in arguing. If you think Tallon wanted Hossa over Havlat and Tallon fired his good friend Savard and hired Scott Bowman's good friend Quenneville than that's your opinion. I have mine. I think you are implying that you thought the Barker for Leddy trade was a bad trade? Well, that's your opinion as well, I guess.

It's WAY too early to tell if Bowman has done a good or bad job. To say Bowman hasn't made a single good move is absurd though.

These same people would have blown up the 89 Bulls after they got swept by the Pistons. Pippen and Grant are not good enough. We should have traded them!

Worst post of the day....by a landslide.

The front office and coaching staff vastly over estimated the talent in house to replace Campbell and Brouwer in Leddy and Bickell THIS year.

Getting rid of Campbell's salary no one can ever argue. However, what has Bowman done with all that cap space he gained? Nothing.

Brouwer is missed. 20+ goals, physical player. Guy blew out his shoudler against Montreal late in the year, and played through it. Played through his dad on his death bed in the 09-10 cup run. They miss his physical play badly.

Really? Barker was terrible for the Blackhawks and an absolutely terrible draft pick.

the leddy trade is in my opinion his only real winning trade
his signings this summer i put mayers there and a partial plus to montador since he has not played bad but we could have campbell instead

We do miss Brouwer. THe guy can play on any line, actually hits people, and can score. While were on it we miss Kopecky too. I would take either over Frolik or Brunette. (they make relatively the same salaries)

Barker is at best a 5th defenseman. Getting a top tier prospect like Leddy was a great move. People forget Leddy is only 20.

Barker>Montador, Odonnell, Lepisto, Scott. Barker is a solid D on the PP, Hard Shot, Moves Puck Well, And will be physical. Leddy is a small speedy defenseman. We have DK already. This team lacks grit. Seabs, Keith, Hammer. The fall off is bad afterwards. Barker could play on the third pairing and be on the PP and that is a part the hawks are struggling with greatly.

People always seem to forget one thing about Brouwer......he wasn't that good and he did nothing to give the hawks any indication he would be better. How long did he go last year with registering a point.....like 2 months??? Plus if Danault turns out to be a stud then this is a great trade, it's to early to say this was a failure. FYI, the Capitals with a better goaltender this year than there 2nd seed eastern conference team last year would not make the play offs if the season ended today.....with Troy Brouwer.

Yes the hawks would look better with Campbell in the line up for sure......but you cannot pay a 3/4 defenseman 7.2 million till 2016!!!! It doesn't make sense. I agree with you the cap space should've been spent better but that is a different issue.

Really, The year before we won the Cup he was on our first unit PP and scored some goals. Im not saying he is top 4 but the guy was not that bad. He steps up and hits as well. But okay, Montador and Odonnell are better, your right.
