The Hawks just got rid of Brian Campbell's albatross contract to find some roster flexibility, to build around their current core, and to be able to make multiple moves at the deadline.

Makes all the sense in the world for them to go out and trade for a guy whose going to make 7+ mil a year for a LOT of years. Yup... makes sense to me!

k before you go nuts think about this one.

Frolik, Rostislav Olesz for Gomez. almost same money , you get your 2nd line Centre with a cup and in desperate need of a change. Sharp Gomez and Kane could be killer.

then you flip Bickel Beach and change for Gill and Moen.

the numbers are almost perfect minus a tweak or two.

When was the last time Gomez found the back of the net? Gomez is also signed for two more years of a $7.5 million dollar cap hit, which is larger than Campbell's cap hit. Gomez has accumulated a whopping 7 assits this season. Frolik has put up almost double the points at a third of the cost.

No thanks.

He's done here. There is no room for him going into next season.

WRONG!, they are already talking to his agent about next season providing his knee heels ! Q lobbyed for him, the teammates like him, and stan likes him ! nuff said! piss on the dumb penalties, i'll take 4 or 5 like him with his heart & balls compared to a stiff like brian bickell!
shaw kool aid: he's going to be a nice player, but the kid is only 20, hasn't made it around the whole league yet and for his style of play, he already took a sound ass beating in his first nhl scrap! so the kids got a way to go!
he's getting minutes because we got no one else right now! still want to see car bomb & shaw together next year! so does Q!

Re: Q wanting to play Shaw with Carcillo, and Bowman talking to Carcillo's agent about an extension.

Source?

Why has it happened twice in this conversation that people bring up Shaw when all I say is Carcillo won't be a Hawk next year? I don't see a rational connection.

Finally, am I the only one that finds this 'Kool-aid' reference immensely over used and a little ridiculous?

I agree with you.

Just seems weird to me that he hasn't skated a shift at center all season after playing the last two seasons at center (mostly).

All those times when Versteeg/Bolland would get a shot, they'd always go back to Sharp.. It just doesn't add up.

Agree with you both (yobwoc03). I do think Sharp not playing center was part of the deal. I remember reading something about it at contract time. That being the case, it was a high price considering the amount, NTC, and the player choosing the forward position.
