That's fine and all...except that the only dman in the league who plays more minutes than Keith is Dan Girardi. Meaning both Weber and Suter do not (even though they play just a little less than him). If you are going to toss around "stats" on the internet, you should check the actual stats out first.

Also, Babchuk has been a healthy scratch and has had to play forward this year...so I don't know about that one.

My bad he plays 10 seconds more a game than Suter and 16 more than Webber...In accounting and real world analysis, we call this amount immaterial.

Why not?

Knee surgery likely isn't going to help his already ugly skating.
He is not going to replace any of the current top 4 wingers.
His next suspension is going to be another 7+ gamer.
The bottom half of the roster next year could include names like:
- Bolland
- Shaw
- Hayes
- Kruger
- Frolik
- Saad
- Morin
- Beach
Or from free agency:
- Winnik
- Betts
- Asham
- Konopka

You, or others might like Carcillo better than some of the kids that will fight for spots, ok, but in the event that none of them take a 4th line job and run with it, there are a lot better names out there to be had then Carcillo.

Also, never compared Shaw to anyone... but regardless he'll have a roster spot next year before Carcillo.

Thanks for the hot tip....writing down Carcillo not to replace, Toews, Kane, Hossa or Sharp...jeez

Could care less about suspension stuff. Tell you what, he will be the next Matt Cook, watch. He proved to people he has the hands and hockey sense to play with skilled guys and contribute. He was given the best opportunity of his career and there is something there.

For the record, I was one of the first calling for Shaw to be called up. Apples and Oranges....Time will tell. Carcillo is/was not a bad skater....

My bad, when you say many others around the league do (and only 1 does) and you name two players who do (but don't)...then it certainly doesn't help any argument that you may have...in the real world.

If you are going to toss around stats on the internet, atleast use the internet to your advantage to make sure you get them right.

No kidding....that the team 2 years ago had unprecented depth. To expect to get to that type of level again, is absurb. It won't happen...not in a cap structure, and if it were the 80s...the Hawks probably win the cup again last year with that same team. No doubt in my mind.
Fact is, your core is back. Your core was rested. Your GM promised more physicality, etc...didn't happen.

As far as Keith goes, i stand behind what I said. The guy is tired, I get that. Bad things happen when you're tired. Again, on Bowman for not having depth at defense, and Lepisto, O'donnell, and SCott are absolute jokes...all Bowman guys.

However, Keith has been average, yes average, in his own end since the season began last year. He shows flashes of the 09-10 Keith, and then he makes asinine plays or lets guys get behind him. Seabrook by FAR has been their best D man, and most dependable in his own end.

Top 5 in the league? Not sure....I'd have to think about that.

IMO, it seems that Keith at times is too focused on his offensive stats then his defensive responsibilties. Guy has ZERO business being on the PP. None. He can't get his shot through, and when he does he misses the net more then a point guy should. That's how you cut his minutes down ASAP.

As of 12/2/09 no Hawk or maybe any team would see that combo of depth and youth toward winning a cup.

That was the day Toews and Kane signed their extensions and Keith signed his 3rd contract a huge 13 year agreement. That meant going into next year the Hawks were committed to another $14 mil in cap. The Hawks were afforded the luxury of overpaying 2nd teir players because Toews and Kane were on rookie contracts! I can't recall another team winning a cup with their two super stars still on rookie contracts.

They won the cup and another 4 mil in bonus kicks in toward the cap. Thats $18 mil they did not have to spend in their cup winning year. It was well documented that after the 09-10 season the Hawks were in huge cap trouble and that depth would be traded! And it was...even to the point of eating Huets $5.6 Mil hit for 2 years.

The Hawks are just not balanced correctly. No secondary player has emerged over the last 2 years other than an improved Stalberg. That hurts in the a capped NHL; you must have 2-3 guys improve year to year and hope your studs just stay even to compete for the cup. THe Hawks have exp the opposite....no real improvement but significant regresses like Craw, Frolik and Bickell let alone d-line woes. Having superstar forwards like Hossa, Toews, Kane and Sharp aren't enough to overcome all those issues.

This, above all else.

Had the named gentlemen developed as hoped, we wouldn't be so concerned about Montador, O'D, Lipisto, Scott - or Keith, Leddy. Still would be defensive issues, but not as detrimental.

Goes to JJ's point about prospects being only prospects - and don't fall in love with them while refusing trades that would improve your team for a run.

Amen!!!!!!!

Or use some cap space to address areas of need

OR

Get someone that can sign players that aren't Brunette, OD, Scott, Lepisto and trade Brouwer and assume the holes are fixed. The NHL is full of grinders, we couldn't even get one this offseason???????
