Anyone else check the line combos for tonight?

Hall-Gagner-Eberle
Horcoff-Nuge-Hemsky
Smyth-Belanger-Jones
Petrell-Lander-Eager

Smid-Petry
Whitney-Potter
Barker-Sutton

Dubnyk

That's messed up if you ask me. Horc and Nuge shouldn't be on the same line for obvious reasons.

I'd rather see Smyth with Nuge than Horcoff.(way better finisher)

Yeah, maybe the Nuge could snap Smyth out of his 15 game comma.

None of which will probably be good NHLers......

Hemsky's production throughout his career speaks for itself.

- Pilgor09

You need to put away your crack pipe dude. Your bias for Hemsky has destroyed all objectivity and common sense. People said the same thing when the Wings drafted Zetterberg, Datsyk, Homstrom, etc... Nobody knows for sure how well these picks will turn out.. but right now they all look pretty darn good. They have Murco who is also looking like a good pickup. The Wings now have the best bunch of prospects in their system since about 1990. You can't argue the Wings have the best scouting/drafting and player development in the NHL. Emmerton could very well turn into a good NHL player. The problem is he can't get any ice time since the Wings are a very deep team. Wings can't put him on waivers or he will get picked up in a heartbeat.

As for Hemsky, nobody disputes he has proven NHL skill... But his constant inujuries have made him a huge risk for any GM to give up any thing of real value for him. The longer this drags out for Hemsky the less you're going to get for him. He hasn't played anything close to a full NHL season since 2008-2009. And just for the record the Wings have most likely moved on at this point. They're looking at T. Ruutu a few other players.

Go through the league and see how many 5 + round draft picks are playing. See how many picks from those late rounds Det has playing. Those guys are exceptions rather than rules, even for Det. Just because they have had the fortune to pick a diamond in the rough now and then does mean every late round pick by their staff will make it.

Those guys were all drafted over a decade ago...name some more recent successes of the Det Scouting Staff in late rounds.

He's right about that. I expect Stu to land us 3 roster players this draft because I really am that impressed with Stu, but 1 is average and 2 is good (out of all the team's picks combined for that season, I mean. "Roster player" = >300 NHL game career)

EDIT:Don't get me wrong, Detroit is good too. I wish we could keep Stu and trade all our other suit-wearers with you!

Canucks are dominating the league once again. This is 4 years in a row now, and this dynasty is going to be name the best all time sports dynasties ever. The canucks , the glory, the pride, as the rest of the league and fans stand in awe of this great franchise.

Derek Meech (7th round), Jonathan Ericsson (9th round), Kyle Quincey (4th round), Darren Helm (5th round), Jan Mursak (6th round), Gustav Nyquist (4th round). The last two and other from those draft classes are just starting to be ready for the NHL and the ones drafted after that are still a couple of years away from making it to the NHL because the Wings slowly bring them along. No not every late pick is a homerun but with the Wings scouting, you never know and that player could turn into a decent NHL player.

I wouldn't give anything for Hemsky because the Wings don't need him...i would rather keep the pick and young player than waste it on something the Wings don't need like Hemsky.
