Eklund's Note....The drama in St. Louis may have been a smokescreen of sorts to get this done. Jarry is a bit more Skinner-like than Binnington in the sense that when he’s hot, he’s hot—but I know some within the Oilers organization were looking for a proven playoff performer, and that’s where Binnington really shines. We’ll see… it's possible this trade opens up things quite a bit here before the trade freeze kicks in...
Also, I love supporting youth hockey, and I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Jeff Weis of the Sylvania North Stars out of Ohio. They’re in town for a major Tier 1 tournament, taking on Black Bear Hockey Academy in Bucks County, PA at Revolution Ice Gardens. Best of luck to all involved!
The Edmonton Oilers have finalized their search for a new goaltender, reportedly acquiring veteran Tristan Jarry from the Penguins to replace Stuart Skinner. Names like Jarry and Jordan Binnington had been heavily involved in recent rumor cycles.
