Jeremy Brodeur Signs With OHL's Oshawa Generals (Devils)

For the second consecutive year, a Brodeur has signed with a CHL franchise.

This time it's Jeremy Brodeur, who agreed to terms with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

As you may remember, his brother Anthony signed with Gatineau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last summer after being drafted by the New Jersey Devils.

It's not surprising that Brodeur, who was an 8th round pick in the 2013 OHL draft, signed with Oshawa with starting goaltender Daniel Altshuller (Hurricanes prospect) expected to move on to pro hockey.

Over the last few months Brodeur had told me of his wishes to play in the OHL, so it was only a matter of time before he signed with the team that happens to be co-owned by Devils head coach Pete DeBoer.

Brodeur went 22-4 with a 2.18 goals against average, .919 save percentage and four shutouts in 26 games with Shattuck St. Mary’s last season.

While 3rd year veteran Ken Appleby will likely see the bigger share of starts next year, Jeremy should get a respectable amount of playing time, and I think this was the right decision for him.

Jeremy Brodeur is draft eligible in 2015.
