McDavid Suffers Significant Injury; Kings Front Runner for Phaneuf? (NHL rumors)

Just days after being named NHL Rookie of the Month, Edmonton's Connor McDavid suffered an upper body injury in a 4-2 Oilers victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

McDavid was checked into the boards in the second period by Flyers defenseman Brandon Manning and got up favoring his left arm/shoulder.

According to Oilers head coach Todd McLellan, the injury will keep the 2015 top pick out "long-term."

TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that there will be no confirmation on the injury until Wednesday morning, but that it is believed to be a fractured collarbone.

The rumor that won't go away isn't going away. I keep hearing the Kings and Leafs have had discussions about Dion Phaneuf, and the talks have once again picked up. This source, in California, tells me, "There is no timetable being pushed by either side, but the trade deadline looks at least 75%."

I will discuss all this and more on today's HockeyBuzzcast Live at 1pm
