Fantasy – HBSL Playoffs Update (top 10) (fantasy)

The first four nights of the week are complete and fantasy scores are starting to climb high in the HockeyBuzz SuperLeague. For those who picked any Islanders players; who of course play a rare five games this week have cashed in so far. Tavares and the defense of the Islanders have been quite successful so far this week, and they still have two games left to play. Of course all that matters this week is beating your matchup, but it never hurts to take a look around and see how other teams are doing and or who they are picking. Most matchups are very tight and will come down to a very heavy hockey day on Sunday. I’ve gone through all of the scores to date and have compiled a list of the top 10 best scores so far…remember there are still three nights of hockey left this week so lots of time for your team to pull through!

Top 10 scores: (HBSL)

440.50 – Zarker

439.5 – Pumas

432.5 – Streeky

432.5 – 3fingerPete

425.5 – The Commish

419.5 – Whalers

419 – Sonic Death Monkey

418.50 – MTL1

417.5 – Flying Hellfish

416.50 – Momentum

Sure it’s only Friday and it’s only week one but if you compare your scores to the top 10 highest at this point you can get an idea of how good you will have to do to compete with others in the HBSL.

I’m currently at 391.50 points (10 behind) my competition. I’m hoping for a big weekend to come through and move onto the next round…how are you doing?

Best of luck to everyone this weekend in their HBSL fantasy; hope to see you in the next round.

Starting Goalies:

(NYR) Talbot VS (BUF) Neuvirth (VAN) Lack VS (NJ) Schneider (TOR) Reimer VS (CAR) Ward (BOS) Subban VS (STL) Allen (COL) Varlamov VS (CHI) Crawford (ANA) Gibson VS (CLG) Hiller (MIN) Dubnyk VS (EDM) Scrivens

It could just be that Dubnyk starts in all 4 games this week as Minnesota fights for a wildcard spot. The Wild played Monday, Wednesday, tonight, and Sunday….so every second night and as of now it looks like he will be the starter…We’re you able to put this together before the HBSL playoffs started? I took Dubnyk and Talbot…neither tender making a million a year and both with four games this week….It’s doubtful Talbot starts tonight as he played last night; but a good use of salary (1.5 million) for six starts, possibly eight.

Lack vs Schneider: It looks like the Canucks old goaltender will be playing versus his old teammate and backup. Lack has been solid in his last three games going 3-0-0 with a 2.25 GAA and a .925 save percent. Schneider has been a wall in February; but hasn’t been getting any goal support; he is 3-3-0 with a 1.66 GAA and a .943 save percent. Cory has been unable to win a regulation start against his old team in the first three games.

The Leafs fans are hoping to see a loss tonight versus the Carolina Hurricanes who are just four points back of Toronto but have played two games less. This game could go either way as both teams are certainly out of a playoff spot and neither playing particularly good hockey.

The Bruins are quite desperate for a point or two in tonight’s game as they are just barely ahead of the Florida Panthers in the East. Crazy to see Pittsburgh in the wild card spot right now…seems to me like their offense has fizzled up over the last while; interesting to see if they turn it around before playoffs.

San Jose had a big win last night as they were starting to slide down the ranks in the West. The plot is thickening each game as things just get tighter and tighter. Los Angeles and Minnesota have both played three less games than San Jose and Winnipeg who hold the two wild card spots in the West. Keep an eye on these teams and who heats up down the stretch; there may be a free agent or two who catch fire just in time for your fantasy playoffs.

Thanks for reading and enjoy tonight’s games!
