Ducks Trade Assets. Reader Submitted Trade Offers. Sens at the Pond Tonight (NHL trade deadline)

The trade deadline is rapidly approaching. If Ducks General manager Bob Murray does trade for a player, the other GM isn't giving up his assets for free. It reminds me of a line from the movie National Treasure when the FBI agent tells Ben Gates, “someone has to go to prison, Ben.… Well if a new player comes in someone has to leave. The past few blogs have explored need and possible trade targets. What assets do the Ducks have to trade?

1 - Not Going Anywhere Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler, Hampus Lindholm, Sami Vatanen, John Gibson, Frederik Andersen

2 - Gonna Take a Big Deal Nick Ritchie, Cam Fowler, Shea Theodore

3 - Tradeable in the Right Deal, but Not Shopped Jakob Silfverberg, Emerson Etem, Nic Kerdiles, Pat Maroon, Andrew Cogliano, Matt Beleskey, Kyle Palmieri, Rickard Rakell, Nate Thompson, Francois Beauchemin, Clayton Stoner

4 - Available Rene Bourque, Tim Jackman, William Karlsson, Ben Lovejoy, Josh Manson, Eric Brewer, Colby Robak, Mat Clark, Stefan Noesen, Louis Leblanc, Brandon Montour, Max Friberg, Jason LaBarbera, Draft Picks (not more than one first round pick)

5 - Take Him Please Marc Fistric, Dany Heatley, Ilya Bryzgalov

6 - Unknown Jiri Sekac

Disclaimers I've always believed everything has a price. You might love your house, neighborhood, schools, etc.; but if someone shows up on your doorstep with a certified check for $500M, you are moving out. I acknowledge that valuations will vary, but this is how I believe Bob Murray sees it.

Groups one and five are obvious. Also, there won't be much resistance if players in group four are dealt. The debate will be with groups two and three. Not so much about whether these players are dealt, but rather who are they dealt for. For example, if the Ducks can get Keith Yandle for Cam Fowler, straight up or close to it, that deal will happen. Fowler isn't going for Zbanek Michalek.

Reader Submitted Trades – Part 2

Here are more trade offers to the Ducks submitted by readers.

From TheMayor9312

Send Etem to Calgary for Glencross

The Flames are still in the playoff hunt, I don't think they would do this. From a Duck perspective; Etem is a bit pricey for a rental of Glencross' ability. There would need to be more in it for Anaheim (ie good draft pick and/or cash).

From Nucker101 Kevin Bieksa as a top 4 righty + Shawn Matthias to the Ducks for Nick Ritchie and a 3rd round pick Or Bieksa straight up for Theodore Or finally Bieksa + Bonino for Ritchie and a 2nd (or similarly valued prospect)

Thanks Nucker101 you are of my favorite “Alien… message board posters. I like Bieksa and what he brings to the table. For the same reason as Glencross, Bieksa isn't coming here in that type of deal right now. Vancouver is in the thick of the playoff race, they aren't going to trade an established vet for prospects. I can see him traded to the Ducks over the summer, just not for what you expect in return.

Senators at Ducks

Tonight's contest against the Ottawa Senators has all the makings of a “trap game…. Its sandwiched between Monday's emotional win over Detroit and Friday's clash with their resurgent rivals, the Kings. Getzlaf and Perry are back together on the top line. Newly acquired left wing, Jiri Sekac, has to clear immigration. Bruce Boudreau said, if he does, he will play. At this posting, the forward lines are fluid. Center Nate Thompson is a little banged up and may be held out in favor of William Karlsson. John Gibson is again in the nets for Anaheim
