Hearing Coyotes and defenseman Alex Goligoski closing in on a five-year deal in the neighborhood of $5.5 million per season.

I think this is a good deal, if it's true. Sure, it's a little long, but $5.5 million today isn't the same as $5.5 a couple years ago, and, the Coyotes have to overpay for free-agents, so you can excuse a couple extra years term that you'd rather not have.
That being said, who's to say he won't still be decent four or five years from now when that $5.5 is like $3.5 today? I'm fine with it, especially when you consider that the Coyotes have no other good defenseman besides OEL. This gives them two solid left-side defensemen, and makes a solid foundation for building their new defense core.

Looks good to me. Can't wait to see what else they add.
