The Los Angeles Kings played two games against the Minnesota Wild this week and currently hold a 3-3-2 record this season. Here’s the weekly recap.
KINGS SPLIT SERIES WITH WILD
The Los Angeles Kings played two games this week, both against the Minnesota Wild. The Kings took the first game 2-1, before dropping the second meeting by a score of 5-3.
ATHANASIOU AND LIZOTTE PLACED ON COVID PROTOCOL LIST
Forwards Andreas Athanasiou and Blake Lizotte have been added to the league’s COVID Protocol list. Athanasiou missed Los Angeles’ second game against the Wild this week and it remains to be seen as to when the forwards will be eligible to return.
ROY AND WALKER INJURED AGAINST WILD
Both Matt Roy and Sean Walker suffered scary injuries in the second game against Minnesota. Roy was hit into the boards hard by Kevin Fiala, while Sean Walker took a puck to the face. Neither player returned to the game after their injury and both are currently listed as day-to-day.
As for our poll questions, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: Are you happy with Jonathan Quick’s performance so far this season?

Yes: 82% Don’t feel strongly either way: 11% No: 7%
This poll was done before Los Angeles’ 5-3 loss to Minnesota and despite his stats not looking great, Quick has had a pretty decent start to the year. He’s been strong in three of his five games thus far and has been counted on to hold the Kings in the game at times. Quick will just need to make sure the consistency is there.
QUESTION: How do you feel about Carl Grundstrom’s performance so far this season?

Better than expected: 69% On par with expectations: 30% Worse than expected: 1%
Grundstrom has two goals in six games with a minimal role and has looked more confident over the last few games. If he can continue to become more comfortable carrying the puck, he could earn a full-time role with the Kings.
