Follow @james_tanner123 Great game, but first, a public service announcement:
Stop complaining. Stop whining. Teams, fans, players, writers, TV guys, assorted media.
Stop.
"That goal shouldn't have counted."
"That hit was dirty."
"They're getting away with MURDER!"
Dammit, enough is enough.
Hasn't anyone ever heard the story about the boy who cried wolf? In it, a a wolf eats his face because he won't shut-up.
The NHL is getting as partisan and ridiculous as politics in that you can't tell what's the truth anymore because obviously biased people take massive offense and get incredibly loud when something doesn't go their way. Even if they're right, who could tell?
Tom Wilson's game one blind side hit? At worst, a two minute penalty.
Ryan Reave's goal? The NHL allows so much crosschecking that this is barely worth a discussion. Or maybe it is, but you can't tell from one game to the next amid the losing team and their fans and assorted hometeam media's selective outrage.
Gone is the subtlety of discussion, and in its place, just people screaming for a day between games.
Kuznetsov might be injured? Was the hit high? Maybe? Certainly it wasn't so egregious that we'd be talking about it if it wasn't a star player injured on the play.
And on and on and on.
Everyone has an excuse. It's so boring.
Meanwhile, the game was actually awesome.
It had everything you need: an opening concert by the khaki pants and tucked in golf shirt of rock bands, drama, lead changes, sweet goals and big saves.
And that Braden Holtby save was _____ awesome.
Which brings me back to my main point here: whining. I actually saw (twitter) people discussion whether it was 'that nice.'
Seriously? That game winning save isn't good enough for you? And even if it's blown a bit out of proportion due to its timing and placement, you can't just have a little fun? You gotta be that guy?
Here is an idea: enjoy the game, focus on the positives and if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all.
With the obvious exception of me, whining about the whiners.
Blogception!
Go Caps.
