In a game that was eerily reminiscent of the home ice win over the Predators last month, the Ottawa Senators gave up a late lead but scored an end-to-end OT winner after a misplay by their goaltender to steal a victory from the jaws of defeat.
Craig Anderson played his best game in some time, although John Klingberg should have finished it off in OT after dekeing Anderson out of his jockstrap, but he couldn't tuck it home. Bobby Ryan knocked it out of harm's way, and Erik Karlsson picked up the loose puck and won the race to the other end, sliding it past Kari Lehtonen much like Mike Hoffman did against Pekka Rinne.
Hoffman had a power play goal earlier that tied the game before Matt Duchene was gifted a goal that went right through Lehtonen. It is the type of goal that Senators fans have seen a lot this season, but the shoe has usually been on the other foot so it was nice to get one like that for a change instead of giving them up.
Anderson got beat on the game's third shot, but it was a cross-crease pass that went in off the foot of Ben Harpur and past the Ottawa goalie, and the tying goal with the Dallas net empty was a great shot from Seguin, who also got credit for the opening goal for the two-goal night.
It was the first time in a while that most Senators fans got a look at Jason Spezza, and whether it is system or age, he wasn't very noticeable and was a shell of the playmaker that left the Senators four summers ago.
Ben Bishop left the game after the first period with a lower body injury, stopping all 12 shots he faced against his former team.
Mark Stone continued to show his greatness, setting up Hoffman's power play goal with a great feed to extend his point streak to 9 games with 1.4 seconds left on the clock in the second period that gave the Senators some life heading into the third.
The Senators return home for a back to back with Buffalo on Thursday night and Calgary on Friday.
