For the latest Leafs updates or on Twitter The Toronto Maple Leafs completed their task of getting their own restricted free agents locked up, as the club announced on Friday the signing of winger Joey Anderson to a three-year, $2.25 million contract extension (750,000 AAV). The deal is a two-way contract in the first two years ($175,000 in year one and $100,000 in year two) and a one-way deal in year three.

The 22-year-old was acquired earlier this month from the New Jersey Devils for winger Andreas Johnsson. Anderson split his 2019-20 season between the NHL and AHL Binghamton Devils. He recorded six points (four goals and two assists) in 18 NHL games, and 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 44 AHL games.

Both Anderson and former KHLer Alexander Barabanov are waiver exempt, which means they could be candidates for frequent promotions and demotions between the Leafs and AHL Marlies.
