As the Kirill Kaprizov contract situation turns took another twist last night according to the Atheltic's Michael Russo. Kaprizov's former KHL team CSKA Moscow has reportedly offered Kaprizov a one year $10M contract to begin on September 1st.
Bill Guerin and the Wild have been negotiating with Kaprizov's agent, Paul Theofanous for several months now and the lines of communication have been open the entire time. Thw Wild are said to have been offering between $8 and 9M for various term limits. The goal from the Wild's end of course is to keep Kaprizov here as long as possible to prevent the star winger from hitting the open market following the 2024 season.
Either way now there is a date in place and I truly believe the Wild get this done.
It is getting interesting as Kevin Fiala's arbitration date approaches on August 17th and the Kaprizov situation unfolds. The Wild's two best players future with the club hanging in the balance...
