The New York Islanders completed their six-game homestand tonight, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 4-3.

After Anaheim outplayed New York through a good chunk of the second frame, the Ducks pulled back to within one, off a goal from Isac Lundestrom. However, the Islanders extended their lead back to two goals only about three minutes later, with Kyle Palmieri one-timing a shot in close past Gibson, as the Islanders took a 4-2 lead to intermission.

The Ducks outshot the Islanders 16-7 in the final period and cut the lead to one with under two minutes to go, as Adam Henrique buried a rebound in front. However, the Islanders managed to hang on, taking the 4-3 win.

The win marks New York’s third victory in a row over the past four days. While they were outshot by a large 43-29 margin, New York also generated a ton of chances and John Gibson had to make some pretty excellent saves to keep the Islanders from putting a few more on the board.

Even if they relied on Ilya Sorokin for some key saves tonight, the Islanders have been playing better hockey and most importantly, they’re getting goals. Anders Lee and Kyle Palmieri continue to produce offensively and it’s making a big difference for their forward group.

With the win, New York's record during their six-game homestand ends at 4-2-0. The Islanders’ next game comes on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals.
