Hamilton scores OT Winner, Devils Win 3-2 (Devils)

It’s all starting to come together for the New Jersey Devils.

Dougie Hamilton made his presence felt by scoring the game winning goal in overtime and the Devils beat a very good St. Louis Blues team by the score of 3-2.

"I was just trying to read and see where the puck was going and jump by my guy, if possible," Hamilton said. “I just put it in….

And Hamilton’s fellow blueliner, Ty Smith, made his way back since being pulled from the lineup and had been watching the game from the press box.

“It's something I don't want to have happen ever again,… said Smith.

And Smith rewarded the Devils in a big way by scoring his second goal of the season to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Dawson Mercer added another goal to give the Devils a 2-0 lead later in the second period.

Devils rookie goaltender Nico Daws has played like a #1 goaltender in his last five games with the Devils. Yesterday was no different and he has been quite impressive since getting another call up to the big club.

Could Daws be a future number one Devils goaltender?

Regardless, Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald should still be shopping for a number one goalie. As impressive as Daws has been, there are still too many unknowns with Mackenzie Blackwood and Jonathan Bernier. I am sure Fitzy will be looking for the right deal but may not come till next offseason.

Jack Hughes has 6 goals and 10 assists in the last ten games. Ryan Graves played his 200th game yesterday.

Congratulations to former Devils captain Bruce Driver and good luck to the Morristown-Beard School Girls Team for making into the state finals

Go Crimson!
