It’s a game four game night in Smashvile and Pred Fever keep on growing in the Music City. Not only is another overflow crowd expected inside the friendly confines of Bridgestone Arena, another couple of thousand are expected at the Preds Playoff Party outside at Hall of Fame Park adjacent to the arena.
On the ice, this pivotal game four is a must-win for the Anaheim Ducks… they have to know that. Going back to Anaheim down 3-1 means having to beat this Predators team three straight… a herculean task in the best of times.
So… how do the Ducks come out of Nashville with a tied series? They have to impose their will on Nashville, clog the neutral zone and hit, hit, hit in an attempt to knock the Predators off their game. It is something that Anaheim has been successful at in different times of the series, including the first half of game three.
And… how do the Predators come away with a 3-1 lead and a stranglehold on the series? Continue to activate the defense responsibly, use their speed and maintain their discipline. Which is what they did in game three… the word relentless keeps coming up when describing this team, they come at you in waves, grind you down and make you pay for your mistakes
The longer this series goes, the more energy it is going to take to win it… and that may be Nashville’s ace in the hole. In the third period of game three, Nashville was the fresher team and they took full advantage of a rapidly tiring Ducks team. I seriously question how early Ducks coach Randy Carlyle shortened his bench, it hurt his team late in the game.
Game time is set for 7pm tonight at Bridgestone Arena… standing room tickets are on sale for what is sure to be a raucous environment. The Arena has been clocked at 126.4 db… tying the indoor world record for an indoor crowd cheer set by Rupp Arena at a UK game earlier this year. I’m wondering if we need to give the boys from Guiness a call…
