Follow @james_tanner123 Oh man!
I just wrote a long and detailed post about how the Coyotes should trade for Gabriel Landeskog, and it somehow got erased.
While that's a bit annoying, I am in a pretty good mood because my ice-rink seems to have survived the rain and warm temperatures and it's going to be cold and clear for the next little while, meaning I can (hopefully) get skating within the next couple of days.
As for Landeskog, the gist of the lost blog was that he's 24, likely a better player than he's shown (due to being a captain of a terrible team and taking on too much pressure) and that the Coyotes should gamble on him improving in a new situation.
I likened his skills to those of Shane Doan, and I mentioned that I thought it would be a very popular move.
I suggested starting the bidding at a 2018 first, Michael Stone and Christian Dvorak.
Maybe that isn't enough, but if the Coyotes want to overpay a bit for him, I think it might be worthwhile. He's 24 and the perfect age to add to a rebuilding team that can't be made up entirely of guys 20 and under.
The Coyotes also definitely need to add some sandpaper to their roster and I think Landeskog, especially with Doan's decline and imminent retirement, would be a perfect fit.
I also had a whole bunch of stats and stuff, but I just can't re-write the entire thing. I think the Coyotes and Avs both need to shake things up and, so, why not?
That is all. I hope you're willing to imagine a much better and more detailed argument for trading for Landeskog, and that you'll forgive me for just not having the time or the heart to re-write the entire thing from scratch.
Thanks
