2 North Stars in NHL Top 100 and All-Star Memories (Wild)

Last night the NHL revealed the remaining members in the top 100 players of the first 100 years of the league. The list included two former Minnesota North Stars, Mike Modano, of course, and Mike Gartner.

Mike Modano played 327 games with the North Stars, scoring 117 goals and 309 points in his four seasons in Minnesota before the Norm Green debacle took the team to Dallas. That's a story for another day of what might have been and could have been.

Mike Gartner a 17 time 30 goal scorer, played parts of two seasons in Minnesota, where he scored 41 of his 708 career goals in 80 games with the North Stars back in 1989 and 90.

Former Wild head coach, Jacques Lemaire, made the top 100 as well for his storied playing career with the Montreal Canadiens dynasty teams of the 1970s. Current Wild assistant coach Scott Stevens also was named to the top 100 in recognition of his Hall of Fame career as well.

So thoughts on the list and if you had one pick of a player not on the list, who do you feel deserves their place in the top 100?

The All-Star festivities:

I personally like the NHL skills competition the best as far as All-Star games and events go involving all sports. The game itself is usually ho-hum after the first several minutes in my opinion. Now the 3 on 3 tournament is interesting at least. Last year was fun but the whole John Scott thing was over done and appeared very scripted. I hope this year we see a better show, but it is Hollywood so you never know.

I have some very fond memories of All-Star games from the past and here a few that really stand out for me. Wayne Gretzky scoring 4 goals in the 3rd period, on the late great Pelle Lindbergh in 1983 on Long Island. 1997, Owen Nolan calling his hat trick goal, pointing and then ripping it past Dominik Hasek in San Jose. Vincent Damphousse scoring four goals in the old Chicago Stadium back in 1991.

Please share your favorite All-Star Memories either game related or skills competition, always great to hear and recall those storied events and relive them again.

It's always Hockey Day in the State of Hockey!
